LOL...I recall when Herbie thiought we meant 'blowing out his butt' when we called him and Dave 'Wind Talkers'.

Farvegnugen...

ok, and here my experiences 'till now.
I made a "testbuy" in February (Some guys from messerforum.net and some friends of mine were interessted in Buck-custom knives and we decided to order one custom 110 for a start, to see how the quality of the knife is and how the order process works if you order from Europe. NB: the shopsystem allows only orders from US/Canada, you have to order via mail).

Well, the knife ist still not in my hands.
The people at buck told me that the knife is ready, but it's not shipped yet. So even if they would ship it today you can add at least 2 more weeks for shipping and coustoms.
This means that you shouldn't even think about the 6 weeks they are talking about on their website if you order vom outside North-America. We are waiting right now for about 18 weeks (that means 5 month).
The knife was intended as a (birthday-)gift. Well, maybe next year or- wait a minute- christmas is coming. Ok, that was sarcasm.

Please don't let me be misunderstood, this post ist not an offence against Buck or a buck-bashing. The people are very friendly, and -as a friend and user of buckknives I know that- their products are of high quality.
But if you order from outside the US/Canada, think twice.
IMHO they are probably not that much interested in selling (custom-)knives outside the US. You need muuuuuuuch time. It's your decision, if you can (and are willing to) wait. But you should know about this before placing your order.

to be continued (if they don't stop my order after reading this :-)

Thanks for the update. Let us know when you receive the knife and I hope it's everything you expect it to be, especially after such a long wait.

I think I will wait to order untill my sister goes back to the US to work next year and get her to do it from there.

meine bescheidenen Gedanken...

hee hee wate tell they read that!!!
they will spill good coffie over the key board in the morning!!!

Dave, my friend, I needed more than one cup of good coffee to translate the translated translation. Especially I don't know what a "treakenMesser" is. What I didn't try is to use Babelfish to translate it back into English, the following translation wouldn't need such a long time as it did. :D Pretty nice is the Translation of nut case. "Nußkasten" means somewhat like socket set. ;)

I packed your parcel yesterday. And I'll carry it to the post office at noon. I think you like what is in there.

Best,
Haebbie

Herbert

yes my friend i only use the babble fish for a joke to give you and landcruiser something to giggle over!
yes i most hope you have included your address as i am well known for poor record keeping!
yes it is likely that landcrusercan get it from Herbertz but as you said at more cost then from Buck directly...
but is it realy if you add in shiping ?
for after market sales like we do no other way ...
Buck has customer service unlike any other you will find in the US.
Most US busness do not have service as good as Buck does.
it is sad to me that in the times after the move of the plant that they have some trouble with some customers that are up set that things take a while to get working as smoth as they did before.. it is like starting all over again ...

Yes i would email Joe or the company store...
Herbertz should have that information.
and yes we all like pictures here!!!
landcruser, you can see most of my collection by clicking the link to my photo bucket site...

later my good friends
the socket wrench...:D

@Dave and Herbert: yes I know that Herbertz is the German distributer. But, ahm how should I say, Herbertz wants to sell Herbertz-knives...
They sell you an 110, a Vanguard and so on. But they don't accept an order for/from the custom shop.
I know that Buck is a very customer-orientated company; as I posted, this is not some bs like buck-bashing; I don't accuse them of being slow/whatever.
And I understand, that all this custom-rubbish and overseashipping is difficult for them. The only reason that I posted this, is because European (or Asian, African etc) customer should know, that they should bring time :)
A good knife is like good wine: both need their time :D

PS: Dave, very impressive collection, wow
