I'm looking for a new custom and I want to keep it under about $800. Does anyone know of any really good makers that I should check into? I'm more looking for a thumbstud knife possibly a flipper. Doesn't matter if it's a frame lock or a liner lock. Maybe something a little dressier and nothing under 3.25" or over 4" thanks!

Alan Davis would be the one I would try. He is great to deal with and fixes the knives like you described all the time. You can find him here on the forums. Good Luck and tell him Kevin recommended him :thumbup: Kevin

Reese Weiland.

Also, Jeff Harkins can make you a basic folder with no frills for around $800.

Andre Thorburn or John Arnold perhaps (both South Africans). Their work is hard to snag and they do not really do customs, but if you can find them, they are amazing. Also, Václav Dokoupil - a Czech maker who made me a gorgeous flipper recently (with another on the way):

I am going to say Jeremy Robertson.

A Gen2 El Patron with 3V will run you under $600.00
A Gen3 with PD1 will be about $700.00

This is a truly well built and completely useable custom with excellent F&F.

It might be the best custom dollar for dollar on the market IMO.

Lacking in the 'fancy' department though....

JR88FAN is correct! Jeremy makes some bad ass knives and built like tanks without overkill.
