I think he was referring to the treatment at the front of the handle in that one example, which if copied was done so unintentionally, maybe subconsiously borrowing from my love of historical designs and values. It's a very secure handle and most certainly is similar to that first used on the Greek Kopis. And if it were a copy of historical designs it's because they were better than much done since then. I'm not very good at copying though, since when I try to do so I seem to always piss off the purists who accuse me of corrupting history.
Here's a Kopis I corrupted last year. Similar handle.
