Here is another sheath I made for a Gerber Freeman Hunter. It has a loop for the firesteel and a pouch for the sharpening stone.

Thanks men, old Beo-wulf knows his stuff! I have some other blades that are fixixng to be headed his way!

Actually, the internal welt is only 3/8".
It follows the outline of the blade.
An internal welt is tough to do, but it brings a certain quality to the package.
The rest of the leather is just glued and sewn together.
The wider, square shape allows for wider belt loops, and thus a wider belt.
Sheath makes a great slap stick when one leaves the knife inside to form a handle.

Heres a pic of my first sheath from Robert at www.handsewnleather.com along side my Cross drawn SOG sheath. It was originally made for a Benchmade offsider, I sadfully lost in the lajke killing an Alligator! It was easily "modded" to handle this Next Gen Ka-Bar, very securely! P.s. didn't lose knife due to sheath, but cutting gators head off, dropped somewhere in drink, & had to preach a funeral for it! GOD Bless!

Pretty thick! This one was 8 1/2' long, & the skull between the eyes ,where brain is located, is about 1/2" thick. I know what your thinking! About Gator hunting! No a stab thruough the head wouldn't be a wise choice, there skull is about the size of a marble! Someone could drive a blade all the way through his head, & he could still eat them! Best to jump on him with your entire body weight, put your left hand over snout(assuming you are right handed, & at same time use a "backslash" at bottom of skull(where kneck starts) cutting spinal cord & eliminating gator, now crank up the Fire Pit!!
