Custom Leatherwork

The Apocalyptic Survivor 1911 holster has a new friend:

These look fantastic. All of your work does but these really made my wallet twitch.

This rig fought me a bit, but I think it turned out pretty well. It's on its way to Canada :)

Now that I'm picking up a couple orders that I had put on hold to take care of my wedding and start looking for a house (although we still haven't found one) I figured I would put up the first sheath I've made in a while--it is an Apocalyptic Survivor style belt sheath for JackHammer's Kentucky Woodsman!

Thanks! I am slowly working back into it. We are still doing a lot of house hunting so I have to keep my nights and weekends mostly open, so I really can only do one sheath at a time and it can take me longer than normal to do it. I do have a couple people who put in requests prior to my little leatherwork layoff that I'll have to catch up with, first, but I'll be around ;)

I technically have two orders for leatherwork pending, but one guy pulled the "I'm not going to respond when he asks me to confirm what I want" thing so I'm considering that one cancelled. The knives are still in-transit for my other order, so I made a couple little "monofold" ultralight wallets in the meantime:

The pictures aren't the best because the sun was already down when I finished them (I usually take photos outdoors) but I think you can get the idea of what I was going for with these. They are made of 5-7oz horsehide and can fit a credit card, an ID and a little cash for when you just want to carry the bare necessities, whether you are out on an ultralight hike or out on the town in clothes that don't really work with a full-size wallet.

I also made this sheath a couple weeks ago--it's not a JK, but I still think it turned out pretty good :P

Hi Noah -

Excellent stuff as always.

I am still wearing my WLW belt daily.

I did just lose one of the chicago screws - I neglected to check it. I'll just see if I can order a screw online.

The belt is holding up very nicely after 2 years of wearing it almost every day!

Maggies is wearing just as nicely!

best regards -

Glad to hear it! You can order new Chicago screws from Tandy Leather Factory--just order the shortest ones and they should fit your belt :)

Thank Noah -

My wife found the screw on our stairs - so all good again! I will take pictures of the belt now that it is broken in so people can see how well your work holds up!

I still have a couple of knives I want you to make sheaths for if you are getting back into the swing.

best regards -

Even better! I am going to be all caught up by the time we get to move into our first house (we expect to get the approval letter from the bank--it's a short sale--sometime next week so we can start the inspection period) so once we get settled in I would be happy to make some stuff for you!

Noahl do you do a universal dundee rig set up by anychance? I saw something on the forum the other day and it had a little pouch on it and you could basically slip any knife with a dangler on to it and it worked pretty well. If you could do something like this let me know please

I'm afraid I would need a picture of what you're talking about, because I'm having trouble envisioning it, but it's possible that I could make one.

the one picture with the baldric attachment or whatever is the one I'm looking for or something similar (the pictures towards the end with the very skinny guy)

it's basically the part with the hooks in your above pic that was going to canada. i just need the leather straps that go around it me to hold the knife. maybe I am using the wrong terminology

yeah basically but I am wanting it to be universal. I don't really need the belt adapter thing if thats what it is. sorry I have always heard it as a dundee set up, but basically the strap is all I'm needing but i want to be able to switch it to multiple sheaths. let me see if i can find the one that really peaked my interest. I love them for the winter cause with a lot of my kit on i can't get to my knife, this way i can have it on the outside of all my gear and get to it with out going through a bunch of layers

here is the one I'm really talking about and that really got me interested in it

Well the baldric strap is easy enough to make, but it sounds like you will need something at the end of the straps in order to actually attach your sheath to the baldric. I've done baldrics with clips on them that can attach to sheaths with dangler rings (like this, although it has two rings on it specifically for the baldric instead of just one for a dangler), as well as baldrics with clips and a constrictor strap that loops around the sheath and through its belt loop so you can put it on any sheath you have (like this), but I could also make something like what is on the second link you gave me where there is a sturdy piece of leather that will act as the "belt" for your belt loop. Whatever you would prefer, I can do.
