Perhaps you talents should be used to create something original? It seems you are just reverse engineering someone else's intellectual property and using their name to profit from it. Did you contact anyone to see if they minded what you are doing?

So pimping knives is a problem and people need to ask permission for it now?

I think if someone is going to use someone else's name to sell their wares they should ask for their permission.

Other people make scales, do re-grinds, re-blade, or re-finish knives and thats not "using their name to profit from it" (assuming by their name you mean the original makers). It's as this sub-forum is for....Providing knives and more (and more including custom services) as a maker....They aren't selling that makers knife, they are selling they're change to the knife...they're selling their skills.

I know I shouldn't get involved but I'm going to say something anyway. Hammer, you're wrong. This subject has been brought up in many Many courtroom battles and even the supreme court. When you buy something it's Yours. You are free to do what you please with your own property as long as it's within the restrictions of the law. When you buy a car you can change the tires, rims, hood, paint color, etc. Without any approval needed from the manufacturer. For greedy controlling companies that think they still own said property even after being paid for it...yes they can put some restrictions on it to help prevent people for using their property as they choose by saying certain things void the warranty and that's about it. Sometimes these warranty issues are fine. Say taking the knife apart voids it's warranty. That's understandable. I wouldn't expect to take my engine in pieces to the dealer and have them fix it under warranty because I forgot what I was doing. However some companies like to destroy all warranty because of something none related to one repair or another and this too has been taken to court and found unjustified. If I replace my pocket clip and I send my knife in because the steel wasn't heat treated properly and it's constantly chipping, it should be replaced under warranty. If you replace your brake lines with custom ones than yes the brake warranty is void but not the engine repairs.

Even though I used a car as an example this same concept transfers to homes, computers, furniture, watches, etc.
If it was so wrong or immoral or illegal to do without the original proprietors approval we wouldn't have so many places offering vehicle repair, watch repair, wheel stores, etc.

Once you start down the road of what you can and can't do with your own property then you will get into the nasty nasty topics of resale. Many of these greedy controlling companies don't like you to resell their property because then they don't get paid on it again and again because say 3 people have benefited from it but the company only got paid once for it. This has been a sensitive subject concerning video games, software, and cars.

That being said. If enough people want to replace their standoffs or pocket clip or scales...then guess what...someone will emerge that can and will fill the people's needs.
He's making replacement parts. He's not stamping any manufacturers name on them. The only instance he's using the name is to say what his product works with. There is nothing wrong with that.
Try to buy a new replacement bulb or a new filter for a car if the maker couldn't tell you the make and model it fit on.
Okay I've said the gist of what I wanted. If you want to argue against what I have to say I suggest you read court cases involving this topic because better people with degrees have made it into law and they are your best answers.

And on a final note.

It has been proven time and time again if you look through history. All those companies that tried too hard to control their product failed.

Why? Because their product was no good? No. Because they forgot what was most important. People Are Your Business. Not your product. Because no matter how great your product is, without people to buy and support it...You Fail

I suppose if the OP just say "circular metal things with a hole, 0.125" thick, 1/4" diameter" instead of "Standoffs" that would fit a R. Hindxxer knife it'd be ok in the Moderator's mind.

Not only do I support you, but I also just bought some standoffs for my Hinderer in blue. Can't wait! Thank you!

Can you make some custom spacers for my brous mini division. Id like them to be blue and have the same blue screws you are selling. I realize it will be more but im willing to pay. If possible pm me

I don't care what anybody says I was looking on their site and EVERYTHING was sold out!! So to be able to get on here and find them available and ready to go the last thing I'm thinking about is oh, I wonder if this is right, is this fraud, or copying or blah blah blah.... I'm just glad to get a good product that's available and ready to ship, and I'm sure most ppl feel the same way. So thanks man I'll be emailing you with an order!

I am wondering if you can make custom blue screws for the Spyderco Techno. I already have blue titanium stand offs and have been looking all over the internet for screws. Thanks!
