Knifemakers are cheap bastids that don't carry knives...that is just less money to spend on supplies and equipment. Thank god there are people like me that try to break that stigma.

Is that the one with the autoerotic asphixiation attachment?

Ground three of these out on a Saturday evening just for the hell of it, to add to a HT cycle Sunday morning. It was quick and dirty, down to 400 grit then bead blasted.
Been my daily since Sept. 00. Work, play, hunting, its been used for everything. At work everyone seems to take turns using it for the day, cutting tape, boxes, banding and other things I probably don't want to know about. It's been used, abused, rode hard and put away wet many times. It shows!!

I was always under the impression that knifemakers actually do not carry knives and mosreover do not carry their own knives (personally as a frustrated artist I would feel weird weraring or carrying anythign I made) - kinda funny that Jerry (who was my stereotypical example was on this thead

By trade I'm a store's supervisor for the military ( I'm a civy ) and I have up to 15 guys working for me.
First I cann't afford anyone elses custom work and I can only afford to carry this and my Leatherman at work. No one gets my leatherman and I believe that this boxer neck knife will probably be distroyed by the next batch of temperary military storman.
They test knives in ways that make me cring. Last week a corp. had to show me the big scrape my knife put in the concrete floor while he was cutting rubber hose.
They don't get promoted for thinking on there own, just follow orders.

I have about 15 different knives that are rotated in and out of use depending on the day. What I carry is based on what I'm going to be wearing, where I'm going etc.
I usually carry some type of Hawkbill. I just recieved my Wasp from Reese Weiland so I've been showing it off. Otherwise it's one of my own fixed bladed Hawkbills in a neck sheath.
As for utility......I've been carrying a small skeletonized Stellite fixed blade that I made over the holidays. I've mainly been carrying it to field test the material. Because it's thin and very light, it's become somewhat of a constant companion.
Gary Graley is making a sheath for my Simons Lockback, this will be my new "dress up" knife.
Hopefully soon, I will be carrying one of my prototype folders.

someone told me once "if you make knives you should carry one of your own" since then i have tried to do this, since i dont make folders yet, this means carrying a small fixed blade.which is not a problem here,(wy/id) altho my wife sometimes is upset with this practice no one else seems to mind. i do work outside on a mountain and i have many oportunities to test my work. presently i carry a blade- 3.5 inches long modified tanto, made of 440V with a spalted maple handle, not only is it superior to any factory knife, but its good advertising too, since it seems to always seems to catch someones eye, i dont think there can be a better way for me to evaluate my design, heat treat or skill than to actually use a knife every day

I carry one of Harvey McBurnettes in my pocket, one of Ed Fowlers in my sheath and my trusty Swiss Army knife in my possibles bag. You oughtta see what my dad carries! Yikes! Ron Appleton

Currently I am carrying the Lightfoot/Microtech knife.. Talk about a well built folder for small $$$... Other than that maybe I will wear one of my neck knives, but the folder is ALWAYS there...
I will be getting into some folders as soon as I get some time, but this knife I am carrying is hard to beat at the price..

Take Care
