Custom Makers Around the $200 Mark? Also, a Question about Steels

Hello. I'm looking at getting a plain jain Nessmuk-ish knife custom made. Don't want anything outstanding, just a carbon steel blade, flat ground, hardwood handles, with a leather sheath. I'm mainly considering O1, A2, and D2.
Does anyone know of any makers they'd personally recommend, or might be a maker themselves, that can build what I'm looking for to this budget?

As a secondary question, would anyone like to comment on what steel they'd prefer to use from the ones mentioned above, or what you'd use even if I didn't list it?
This will not be a heavy use knife. It might do some whittling, but is mainly aimed at being efficient for skinning, game processing, and camp food prep. Battoning and chopping are not what it is meant for. The hardest thing this knife will probably ever cut through is when I decide an animal's sternum, usually on younger animals, is small and weak enough that I can just push my knife through it with one firm hand.
How sharp the edge will get and edge retention is more important to me than blade toughness. Ease of sharpening is nice, but I am not extremely worried about it if I could get the first two qualities.

Finally, and I know this is a very general question and hard to answer, but could anyone give me a rough idea how more costly I could expect powdered steels like CPM 3V or CPM D2 to be. The only steel I have experience with when it comes to custom knives is O1, so I have no idea.

I'm a new maker I only use O1 to start out with, but A2 is definitely more desired than O1. So I could make you an O-1 one for a good price, but I'm just starting. But my dream knife would be CPM-3V or S35VN because they hold edges better/are tougher/resist rust better. CPM D-2 is better than regular A-2 though. Hopefully in the next months I can get my own oven so I can start using 3V and S35VN, and treating it myself.

You should look at the charts, D2 holds a better edge but is less tough. All carbon so they can throw a spark against a rock for survival purposes!

Marshall, I thought that the only one of those three steels that will throw a spark with flint is O1? That's one of the reasons I've gone with O1 on my previous custom bushcraft knives.

I do basic three piece knives in that price range. No sales discussions on the forums, so e-mail me.(e-mail is in my profile.)

High tech steels will add another 50% or more, depending on the steel. Foil for heat treat, liquid nitrogen, 3-4 temper cycles, and way more abrasives drive the price up.

From what I know, only O1, out of those three, will through a spark off flint or chirt, any of them will off a ferro rod, any sharp corner will. Glass seems to work great. O1 will sharpen easiest, and need it more often, then A2, then D2. Look in he for sale section, see who makes what you like, ask them.

A2 makes a great field-dressing knife.

I object to this thread being moved to a section that says only knife makers, craftsmen, and material providers can reply to threads. I was looking to hear non-makers' recomendations and regular peoples' experiences with and opinions about steels as much as anything else. Pain in my ass.

I think it is b/c you brought the 200$ aspect into it
