hi I want to make a small knife for my wife. somthuing small that she could edc in her purse. her fave colors are lime green and grape purple. ? would love to make the handle for this knife from miacarta in those two colors.... any thoughts on where ? or how to make the stuff myself....

Using that link to make it yourself is pretty easy. The only thing I can advise is to test your material to see if the colors will stay the color you want. I have had some colors end up considerably darker than they were before the resin.

I spend 10x more time making and selling micarta than I ever get a chance to actually work on anything.

Amongst those sitting on my shelf :) Olive, burgandy, purple, aquamarine, and speaking of one's that come out different than they went in, the last one started was a nice saddle tan.

I also make my own out of old jeans and new cloth I buy by the foot. It is not hard at all but it is messy, so keep that in mind. The provided link is the best I have found so far. If you go look for my older threads here you can also see some more pictures of my making my own blocks. I made it in blue, green and red colors with a few strips of white canvas to work as liners.

This is a picture of a roughly shaped (not polished at all, just out of the 60 grit disc form the angle grinder) scrap piece of the last block I made (mom's old red jeans and white liners with poliester resin).

Feel free to ask anything you want.

Jason,

I have your email and I will respond to you NLT tomorrow.

I am pretty busy today, but I wanted to let you know I can probably hook you up. I did some green and purple (aka smashed Barney )that David Farmer put on a knife recently. It came out pretty cool...I think you are looking for a brighter green tho.
