custom/modified multitools

I'm looking for a maker who does work on multitools. I'm an active duty marine seeking a quality side kick, and everyone suggests either a swiss tool or a leatherman. But having been spoiled by premium steels and quality workmanship i feel I'd just get annoyed with either of them,which is where you would come in! Let me know if this is something you could do or have done, I'd like to open dialogue with a maker to see what my options are in this department. Thank you for your time
