Custom or a Knockoff? (Case Closed)

I just picked up this beauty of a knife at a flea market for only twenty bucks, it's clearly a Winchester Bowie but there are no markings to indicate that...
not even the sheath.
The handle is a bit different than the normal Winchester, seemingly cherry and very red in color. So, is this a custom, or a knockoff? Haven't been able to find anything regarding this knife.

-One side says stainless steel
-The other has the numbers 39313
-No Winchester marking on the blade
-No marks on the sheath
-Of perfect quality, fit and finish

I have never seen a custom knife maker use a 'stainless steel' stamp like that on their blades. My guess is knock off.

Its a Yukon gear bowie knife. Sold between $15.99 and $30 depending on who is selling it.
Lol looks like somebody made most of their money back selling this knife. That kinda sucks when you think you might be getting a great deal. Turns out you almost paid retail.
I'd be like well son of a b**ch.
Nice looking knife for what it's worth.

You really have to be careful at garage sales. Especially if the person has anual garage sales. In most urban and suburban neighborhoods everyone has internet and a cell phone. As such most of anything that is worth something usually ends up on ebay or sold via online elsewhere. It sucks because it has reduced flea markets and garage sales to nothing more than retail garbage cans. I cant even remember the last time i found a "they dont know what they have" scenario but im pretty sure it was before the internet was invented.

Good reply. Very true!!

When you started with flea market and 20 dollars I already knew it was a knockoff. Sorry if I'm being too harsh, but it's not just knives, flea markets are more or less rip off central for everything.

Well I can't be too fussed over it, as long as it's razor sharp.

My local retailers in inflation station Canada would probably be around 40-50 bucks. Thanks for confirming the make, YG has a tendency to produce lookalikes.

OP.....for twenty bucks, its a good beater knife. I'd use it as an experiment. Wail on it, and see how long it survives. Pics would be sweet. Let us know how you make out.

I believe the handle on your knife is pakawood, and it is most certainly not a knockoff.
The 17$ Winchester Bowie sold at Walmart is branded by many different companies as well as not really even branded at all like yours is.
It can be had new for a few dollars less new, but 20$ isn't too much for a knife that's really just for looking cool.
My brother has one which is also razor sharp, but only because he has never cut anything with it based on the foolish notion that he'll use it to skin his first deer if he is ever able to go hunting.

That's intriguing, by the fit and finish it doesn't seem like a knockoff at all as you suggest, but I did some digging and it turns out it truly is a Yukon Gear ($45 regularly) just by the way the stainless steel stamp is slightly smudged. That is essentially the only thing wrong with it.
