Custom or Strider?

Lego, CC, or GG? Strider's CPM-154 is supposed to be KILLER.

Not sure of the difference in GG and Lego. I don't want a CC just because I'm sure it will be to thin for my large hands. Pictures of all this would be helpful for my purchase. I have an all black PM2, so I'd like to get a strider that has some color and preferably with the flamed titanium

Here's a couple of pics showing the SNG and the Para2. The Lego SNG is on top, Para 2 in middle, and Gunner Grip SNG on bottom in the spine view image. I don't have an SMF to compare. If I had large hands I'd probably go with the lego SMF and sacrifice the slim carry for a more comfortable grip. I believe the gunner grip is thinner than the concealed carry.

Thank you for the pictures! So the "Lego" versions are the smoother G-10 handles? The SNG might just work for me. Even with large hands, my PM2 works great when choked up on the knife. They look to be VERY close in size!

You're welcome; glad to help. The lego one is the 3/4 grind black blade with the smoother handle; it is the standard model. They are very comparable in size; if you like the Para2 I'd go with the SNG. The SMF would be a good choice if you're finding the Para2 too small.

So I'm guessing the SMF and ZT0560 are comparable in size? I have an 0560 and it fits great in my hand too, but I don't HAVE to have a knife that big. But can go smaller than the SNG.

I definitely vote for Strider as well. There warranty is unbelievable. I have med hands so I have the SnG but if yours are larger, then go for the SMF.

I'm not sure; I haven't held either one of those in a while and never saw both together.

Ok. They seem like maybe they would be along the same size. I'd like to see a pic of those two together just to see what it looks like.

Well at the $400 to $600 price range, there are several good knives....
Brian Fellhoelter Custom knives start off at around $550 and are sweet knives, Kirby Lambert's
Custom knives start off at around $575, Shirogorov start around $525, if you are a LOE, EMT,
or firefighter then you can pick up a Hinderer for around $400, JWS for around $525, Tom Krein
folders $575.....So there are several Custom / Semi Custom knives that can be had at these price
points VS production folders. But you can't go wrong with a Strider, and if you not into production
then pick up one of Strider's Customs.

Are you still trying to decide on the sng vs smf? I can post a pic of the sng and 0560 if you still want to see them together. I can tell you that the sng is not as large as the 0560 nor as heavy. I have large hands also and like how each of these knives feel in hand- the sng much more like the para 2.

I have very large hands and like the SMF and SnG. I find DGG SnG's more comfortable than lego's.

I don't know of another maker that matches Strider's break it and we'll fit it warranty, but I like Les George's work. If you can get one of his mid-techs close to MSRP, I don't think there is a better knife for the money. I don't think the heat treat is as good. I rolled the edge of my VECP prying some staples, but the F&F/materials are pretty damn hard to beat!

Several months ago, I didn't want a Strider, and now I have four. A Sng, a SJ75, and two PT's. Still don't know how it happened.

These are my two favorite knives right now:

I've been carrying the Strider SNG more, but like the Shirogorov better, but the blade is a bit big for my daily use. The gunner grip is my favorite flavor of strider, but can be a little hard on your pants. I also like the stone washed flat ground blade in CPM-154, but I really can't tell the difference between it and the s30v. Strider heat treat is great in either steel.

I'll second this, I love shirogorov! My model 95 is amazing and its FFG blade is great for EDC.

It's also quite thick which makes it fairly strong, a solid midtech folder forsure and has chris reeve fit and finish IMO

My SnG CC is EXACTLY what I was looking for for EDC. I have medium to large hands, and it fits pretty well, especially choked up on the choil. My buddy has the SmF with Lego G10, and thats a LOT of knife. Next for me will probably be the DGG, cause its just so pretty, and frankly, Im unbelievably impressed with the ergos and build quality.

I think I'm going to go with the SNG. I'm looking at the one in Artic white from an online store. I want something a little different, and I think it will be perfect!!

I would look into Greg Lightfoot customs before a strider. They are good knives, but you can get something more unique and tailored to your specific wants

I love Striders......I have larger hands as well and find the SMF to be perfect!! I just received my first DGG and it is really about perfect........thinner in width than traditional lego but still grippy in hand. I don't own a Norseman....and while they look pretty nice.....I'd agree they appear to be a more artsy type of knife. A Strider SMF is a drop it in the mud, step on it, drag it through anything/anywhere knife that will never let you down.....kinda' reminds me of an AK-47 in that regard.

I'm still on the lookout for the right SMF. The only one that's stuck out to me was the arctic gray one. But from what I've heard, they were exclusive to one online dealer only, is that true? I'm hoping to find one soon, or else I'll just settle for another SMF that's available. It seems like right now, most people are sold out.
