I think your Menefee in the left on your picture,is the same knife as this one

As you can see,the blade rides high in the handle when closed,at the point end This is VERY pinchable & that is what I like about it It makes for a great all around work knife
Both Tony Bose' Zulu spear & John Howser's mod. warncliffe that Elliott has,were models for Rick's rendition.

PS I'd like to add a thought here,on pinching - opening...I've found that some knives,with firm snaps & blades accessible for pinching,combined,I've had in the past,I used the nick with the thumbnail & pinching at the same time. Lighter tensioin springs,you can just grab the blade ,pinch & open. So I'd never count a nail nick out of the mix.Just sometimes there's no need.

I think Vince brings up a good point. Even on a blade that can be pinched easy with dry warm fingers, when wet with water, oil ,blood etc pinching the blade in the area of the nail pull really gives you that much more friction or grab.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Vince. Actually that one of mine on the left is a wharncliffe blade, and it is very pinchable. :thumbup:
