Smooth but not slippery, you can feel a little bit of the texture. Plus, the PM2's ergo's really diminish the need for aggressive grip texture IMO.
 
I know you've specified metal scales and I've tried a few (flytanium, bladehq copper etc) but i settled with Aramis, the ergos and looks are superior to any metal variants I've used.

YMMV of course.
