So, if I understand it correctly, you are saying that custom production knives are available from dealers, not only direct from EKI

WOW!
What was the pricetag on those two you pictured?

These knives were offered to me over the weekend! They might have bought them from EKI and are reselling them??!!......because the prices were quiet interesting too say the least.

CQC7 DAM $1078
MACH 1 DAM $1078
CQC7 green handle $152
Commander gree handle $262
Commander Green-t $262

over 1K for a production knife?
oh come on. i like emerson knives. really i do but over 1000 dolars for a PRODUCTION knife with a twist??

NO WAY. their must be a line drawn somewhere. at least in my wallet. i will continue to purchace standard G-10 black ti coated unjewled liner knifes from emerson at semi reasonable prices that already exist.

these knives are supposed to be for people who cant afford a true custom but want more than a production knife. if i want to spend more than 1k on a knife from emerson i will prowel this BB and throw the money at someone with a waved 8, ems 1 or a rhino.

Yeah...I have to tend to agree. I personally would be hard pressed in paying 1k for a production knife...Damascus or not.

If I'm not mistake EKI was selling them recently at a Show for $450 and AZK were selling them at $600.

With the site's owners permission I have posted a link to their site:

NOTE: I am not in anyway affiliated with this company nor am I getting a cut.

Hey Leo:

It appears, therefore, that Emerson is not doing the price gouging.
BTW Where did you find these knives? Were they at a dealer in South Africa, or were they online somewhere, or were they at a show you went to?
Along that line, what kind of presence does Emerson knives have in South Africa? How are the knife laws over there anyway?

Hiya

Most dealers know that the name EMERSON speaks for itself....like ROLEX for watches...suppose they just cashing in....

I found their site purely by chance...I was doing a search for Surefire dealers in the East(as in Hong Kong)..and came upon their site. I emailed them to see if they had any Custom Emersons....the rest as they say is history...

Unfortunatley we have very few knife dealers and price 'gouging' happens here as well.
From what I've gathered from some dealers, Emersons as well as MT don't sell too well because of the price. A Commander costs in the region of R1950 = $269 whereas if I order from the States I could get it for approx. $100 less. Big sellers here are the Benchmade, Spyderco variety of price range $55. And "Customs" foorget abowt itt...

My country is the reverse of most 'Modern' Worlds...we are compelled by law to conceal our firearms...ie You may carry any calibre of handgun but it is by Law stated that it must be concealed...funky hey!...
With regards knives I suppose the same would apply......a psycho friend of a friend use to carry a hatchet and Glock 21!!!...a tad insecure

We, the law abiding firearm owning citizens,
are currently in heated debates as the Government of the day wants to severly curtail firearm-ownership.

If these are the knives that were at Blade Show West, the ones with the damascus blades were handground by Ernie. The problem is they don't have the Specwar logo, so you have to know who you're dealing with. You don't have to worry about Karen or Jay at ACZK.

HC Leo- I do have #68 (spearpoint and tanto both the same #) It's funny how 1 number can mean thousands of miles, but the guy at Extreme Outfitters told me he saved any serial #'s in the 60's for the cool people and the super studs so that must explain how we got 'em

Donald.

Did you check out some of the other knives on that Hong Kong site? There is a Strider 'Tiger' that is really awe inspiring.

Yup......Steve at Extreme Outfitters is a great guy to deal with. He sent my two SOCFK's with some T-shirts. Really cool move

The Green-t Commander I ordered was serialized?! #98 I did not know they were
confused.gif

It freaks me out to know that a "brother number #68" exists and who has it!!

Are you havin any hassles with the blade scrapping the liners?
If you are check this out : http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum16/HTML/000613.html

HC Leo- No, I must say that I have'nt had any problem with the blade and liners on the SOCFK's. I just got a green Commander and I think it's serialized also, I'll have to look tonight.
JBravo- There is a pic and if I remember right, some info on that Strider Tiger on the website for "Oso Grande Knife & Tool". Oops,I realize this is'nt related to Emerson, excuse me. Donald.

I seem to recall that the Strider "Tiger" was actually designed for some video game. Styder was approached about making the wild fantasy style knife and it ended up as a background prop in some American Handgunner photos. I guess they got a huge response out of the photos, I'm seeing more and more on the knife, especially on Oriental sites.

$1000+ for a Damascus production CQC-7 or a MACH 1...Uhhh...did I miss something? I mean aren't we talking about simply feeding a different piece of steel to the same CNC machines and finishing stations?

I have to imagine that EKI will be selling these for much less than the 1K gouge that others are trying to pull.

OK. It looks like I did miss something. From what it looks like by the earlier posts the company that MC LEO posted as selling the knives in question is Asian. I know that Emerson knives are more expensive overseas and particularly in Japan. But I still think that 1000+ USD would be high there as well.

Comments from those who are in the know?
