Custom scales for Mini-Griptilian!

Have both the Wilkins and the Cuscadi scales (Wilkins yellow Cuscadi Carbon)

I really do not like the Wilkins scales, the edges of the grips are just too sharp for extended use.
To the point where i gave up using the Wilkins gripped blade and used my LM skeletool instead as it was less painful on the hands.

The Cuscadi scales though are absolutely fantastic.

Looks wise, the Wilkins grips look like they've taken a block of plastic, clamped it to a milling machine and gone out for lunch, up close it looks very industrial.

The Cuscadi grips look as though they have been crafted by hand, then shaped.

Obviously everyone is different has different sized hands and different grips, but to me the Cuscadi grips are a LOT better than the Wilkins grips.

Which is surprising as i paid €80 for the Cuscadi grips and €152.80 for the Wilkins grips.

I bought the Wilkins grips as i've read many good reviews on them, to be honest after 2 weeks i took them off and refitted the stock grips as they were a LOT more comfortable.

Where did you get the clip on the Cuscadi carbon fiber mini grip?

Is the black one with silver backspacer a carbon fiber scale? Also is that one you made or had made?

Cuscadi mailed me a set of contoured carbon fiber scales for me already 11 days ago, but they've been stuck at New York customs for 8 of those 11 days! I don't fault Cuscadi but man I wish the USPS would speed things up. I just got the new Ritter M4 version, going to put these scales. Here's the teaser pic from Cuscadi, imagine this with the M4 Ritter blade!

I just ordered a set of contoured carbon fiber scales for my M4 Mini Grip as well...sure hope they get through US customs quickly. Are you having to pay duty on the scales? And did Luke send you a shipping notice with tracking information or did you have to ask him for that information?

Great choice of scales!

Great! We will have matching blades. I believe there is someone on here who has the first M4 run with these scales as well. It's a great combo because it's the nearest thing there is to a gold class mini griptilian. I'm still debating which pocket clip to put on, I have one of the deep carry titanium clips and also a new black oxide split arrow BM clip.

Luke sent me the shipping tracking info, while it's in Germany you track it on the German post site, but once it's stateside you go to USPS and enter in the same tracking number and it will show you the updated status.

I asked Luke if they could do a split scale of silver twill G10 and carbon fiber, like on the Snody Activator. That would be my ideal scales for this knife, but he said a two-part scale for the griptilian is very difficult, I assume because of the screw pattern.

That would look very nice!

Thanks for the information. It looks like the USA does not charge duty on items under $200.

I was thinking about a set of Cuscadi Orange G10 for my S30V Ritter Mini, but wanted to see the Micarta Carbon Fiber contoured scales first.

For me the silver or black parkerized split arrow clip is the way to go. I do like the Titanium deep pocket carry clip as well, but wasn't too sure where to get one matching the three clip hole pattern on the mini grip.

I've got a set of cuscadi contoured carbon fiber micarta scales on my new m4 ritter mini and they look spectacular. Went with the parkerized split arrow clip on mine so the whole knife is blacked out other than the glow in the dark blue back spacer. I couldn't be more pleased. I'll try to snap a few pics when I get a chance.

I have a set of both coming, Ritter black Hardcoat BMG mini's, Cuscadi Aero Carbon Fiber. Can't wait.

Anyone have any data points on how long shipping takes? Mine says:

Processed Through Sort Facility

ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)

But nothing since then.

Got the new black aluminum Wilkins scales with red back spacer today. This is my first set of Wilkins scales and they are great. Fit and finish is awesome; really precise machining. Stone washed the clip to match the Ritter blade. Came out nice. I will have to post pics when I get back to my desktop. I had a set of techstab cuscadi scales but sent them back due to problems fitting. Couldn't get the blade play out without tightening to the point the action was basically locked. I hear his product is usually great, but I guess it's just my luck. Wilkins rocks! Can't wait for titanium.

Here is my m4 ritter mini with cuscadi contoured cf micarta scales. I'm typically not a huge fan of the "murdered out" black on black on black look, but I think this one looks pretty sick.

I requested the carbon fiber, not the carbon fiber micarta, but I'm starting to think the micarta looks better. It's kind of a cross between CF and black g10, looks really great in photos.

These are great, giving me some good ideas. I'm going to "try" and rescale a knife I have with cocabolo, hope it comes out half as nice as these!

Thanks!!! They do look great in photos, but they look even better in person. They look like contoured g10 but with more depth, if that makes sense, they catch the light more than g10. Mine are bead blasted and are very smooth, but not slick, feels more like cf than g10 or micarta. I'm contemplating contacting Luke over at cuscadi to see if I could have a neon green g10 "cog" style back spacer made to replace my glow in the dark "reptilian" one.

I think the contoured cf looks awesome too, and might have gone that route if it were a bigger knife, but I just thought the cf cuscadi uses has a bit larger weave than I'd like on a small knife.

Either way, I'm sure you'll be extremely pleased with your scales, the folks at cuscadi do some spectacular work.

I had a set of the large Ti Wilkins Grips and foolishly sold them, you talk about transforming a knife.
