Custom serrations...

Ok guys... here you go. I may have ground them too steep, but overall i think they turned out pretty nicely!

i went real slowly and was very careful not to let the blade heat up too much...actually made a vid :D what do you guys think?

Very nicely done! Good eye and good touch.

yeah they are kind of pointy... that's what I meant when I said that I made the angle to steep. text me about 45 minutes to an hour...not too bad!

I love this. I would love it even more if you would add it to our Becker modifications thread here:

I absolutely love seeing this kind of work done to Beckers. Really shows just how versatile they are as a platform for modification. If I was bolder, I would attempt this myself.

Looks good but I have to admit that I think they're kind of useless, IMO. I think that they're going to snag on everything and now there's no belly to the blade for skinning or slicing. If you like it though, that's all that matters.

On a side note, I guess you didn't know that the Veff style of serrations are patented?

Yeah, I knew they were but didn't figure I would get in trouble since I was doing this to my own knife... These aren't technically veff serrations anyway Cuz they are on the belly of the blade and not at the proper angle.

As far as usefulness.... They chop real well and don't break off, but you are right, they do snag when cutting something like rope. I have to do more of a slash cut to cut the rope. I may make them more shallow soon. I think it would do good on skinning though, but I'll have to let you know during deer season :-)

That blade would definitely be intimidating if you had to use it for self defense. Kind reminds me about a shark with it's mouth open and ready to attack, LOL.

Looks like a really big and effective steak knife. :)

All joking aside, if it works for you and you are pleased, I'm very happy for you.

Been following this. I gotta ask. Why did you put the serration there? On the belly? Seems more practical to have them closer to the hilt. Just wondering.

well, i put them there for a few reasons. the reason i wanted serrations in the first place is because of the way they are designed, namely they will still rip and tear whatever you are cutting long after your straight edge goes dull. some of the reasons i put them on the belly vs the heel are because 1. most survivalists will tell you that you will abuse the belly and tip of your knife a lot but want to preserve the the heel for close work. 2. when cutting a lot of the times i use the belly of my blade to cut stuff (as well as the heel), but when i'm chopping or doing some type of slash cuts and abusing that part of the edge, i want it to hold up and still be effective.
