It's a "custom" yet they still drill holes for alternate side clip.
That just kills it for me at a premium price.
Custom means custom, give us the choice.

I called this morning, so as long as you have a custom model, you can send in the knife to upgrade the handles for a fee. The rep told me since the cf handles are new, he wasn't sure about the price. I'm guessing that it should be about $40, since that's how much it is on the website to choose the cf handles.

So my knife just arrived... I'm very disappointed. The centering is off, the action is stiff and the blade is dull in spots. Comparing the action, centering and blade sharpness to my $26 Ontario Rat 1, the Rat one scored perfect on all of these fronts, while my brand new Benchmade Custom Shop knife failed on all of the above. At an out the door price of $438, I'm now convinced that Benchmade does not actually QC any of their knives. I'm sending it back for service.

They told me they would only modify it if you bought it as a custom.

Correct. There are no returns even if Benchmade messed it up.

Sorry to hear this. Based on your picture, it also appears that the grind is off (at least the tip) as well. Is that the case or is the picture just misleading.

It's sadly the case. Benchmade needs to take QC seriously. How this got out the door is beyond me.
