Custom Shop Satin-y Goodness; My New-to-Me Test Team Killa Zilla (more pics)

Very nice. Now you don't need that NMFBM. Yes, that one.

Heh heh heh. ;) Nice try! :p

A perfect combination of satin finish and black canvas handles . That's one model I haven't tried yet and hope to in the future. Do you have an FBM to compare to?

I do not have a FBM, but my brother does (and I do have several NMFSH, which are similar to the FBM). I do have a NMFBM, which honestly, would be a much more fair comparison. Just based on geometry and in-hand feel alone, this TTKZ would easily out-chop a FBM. Keep in mind the TTKZ is a 12" blade.

Congrats on a sweet score. That one is about 4oz lighter than mine. The only other thin grind (as in almost FFG ) TTKZ I know of is in Europe. That is about the only thing I wish was different on mine as mine is on the chubby side down near the edge, but it still performs well.

I saw that sale ad, got excited, saw the price, saw that it came with kydex, and thought satin- IT WILL BE MINE!!!!

Then

I scrolled down and saw that you already bought it😢

Congrats on a great score and a killer deal. Post some more pics for those of us who haven't checked that one off of the wish list.

It's not quite FFG, but it IS very close. It's thinner than I would normally prefer, but it's still a very stout blade! Can't wait to use this one a bit more, but I've managed to pick up a nasty cold, so it won't be this weekend. :(

Can you believe I hesitated for a few minutes? I sat there thinking, "should I?" as my finger hovered over the "submit reply" button. Luckily I snapped out of it. :D

More (and better) pics!!! :D

Even though the edge needs a bit of work (can just barely cut printer paper), she still bites pretty hard and deep.

11 chops to get through this ~3" diameter piece of recently dead Locust. Look how smooth those cuts are! A quick wipe-down with a soapy sponge afterward easily removed all the debris from the blade.

One thing I notice about full-convex grinds is that them seem to deflect easier if you don't hit squarely, so a little extra care is needed when chopping, especially if you have a wide v-notch with anything near a 45-degree angle.

Can't wait to get her all sharpened up and really see what she can do! :D

ETA - Here's a close-up of the handle that I know some of you will like. ;)
