I am considering a custom made sword.
I am thinking of a cutlass/hunting sword/hanger.
Battle ready-high carbon content steel.
26"-28" blade. Fairly wide
Full tang.
heat tempered.
An Ames 1860 full basket("soup ladle") guard.
I live in Cleveland,Ohio U.S.A.
I would appreciate any recommendations.

John Lundemo of Odin Blades. One of the best! Plus, he's a great guy and will make almost any type of sword you'd like.

Jim Hrisoulas makes nice custom work at a great price. i would get one from him from his in stock pages though, unless you want to wait a while for him to make something truly custom.

Jake is a fantastic smith. However, he is no longer taking custom orders. His M.O. now is to make a sword and offer it up on his website. He's truly an artist, but you have to take what you can get from him at this point.

Not sure if he's changed his policy at this point, but I'm pretty sure John Lundemo is operating in a similar way. :)

That may be. The last time I checked with him he had a two year order backlog. Still, it never hurts to ask.

John is taking orders for the fall season and has open spots. His work reflects a lot of hand work. Most (if not all) damascus is coming from Rados.

Cheers
