Wondering if anyone can help me out...

I was watching a special on the History channel a while back on knives and swords... There was a gentleman located in Upstate New York that makes custom medieval swords.

Anyone know his name and exact location. Can't find any info on the web at all...

Thanks in advance,

-chris

Is it Paul Champagne? He makes beautiful and functional pieces (both Euro swords as well as Japanese).

I don't know his contact information right off, but he's friends with the founder of ARMA (the Association for Renaissance Martial Arts) and is listed as one of their "consultants" ( http://www.thearma.org )

He's the only high-end custom swordsmith that came to mind.

Go to www.swordforum.com and have a dig around. In my opinion Cashen is one of the best makers around - his swords are gorgeous. The only problem is that he has a waiting list a year long or so!

Anyway, have a dig around and you will probably find someone.

There are more. Kevin Cashen, Howard Clark, Rick Barrett, Scott Slobodian, Michael Bell, those are from the top of my head.

Perhaps the most distinctive feature about Paul Champagne is how he made the steel himself. It doesn't necessarily mean that it is a good steel though.

Thanks for the responses, YUP it is Paul Champagne..., after seeing his picture, it refreshed my memory.

Thanks,

-chris
