After much research, I've decided on a techno for my edc. . And a custom back space. This thread sealed the deal. I'm going smooth carbon fiber backspace from the German dudes and blue anodized . Livewake who did your blue?

I hope you enjoy the knife, bleedingfinger. I've owned mine since August, 2012 and have carried it every day since getting it. I have a geared carbon fibre backspacer from Cuscadi and think it looks great. I'm really digging the smooth backspacers and could see myself getting one as well.

The Techno has been the best EDC folder I've owned to date, bar none.

Hey all, stupid question.
Does the knife need the back spacer in place?
Or can it be left out?
Thanks,
Lenny

YouTube "TSP anodizing"
Trisodium phosphate (TSP) is a cleaning agent used on siding, decks, and paint. TSP can be had at your favorite home improvement store in the paint aisle. TSP, water, batteries, a couple of leads (in the pic I cut up an extension cord) and some aluminum foil. Takes about 20 seconds for this color. 3 9v batts on the Techno (indigo) 4 9v batts on the Sebenza (denim blue)

^Is there a benefit for using TSP over baking soda?

I will not pretend I have a clue... I did a little research, but more than anything just blindly copied what the kid did in the youtube video I found. I can use TSP to clean the deck or driveway later and the baking soda we have has been in the fridge for a while.

Awesome thanks! I will be checking that out. Can you see the color taking place. Like if I wanted denim can I see it turning and then pull out before it reaches Indigo?

Indigo is achieved at a lower voltage(3x9v). Denim with higher voltage(4x9v)The voltage will only take the color so far. Google Ti anodizing spectrum and you should find a list of voltage and corresponding color. 4 9v batteries will go denim, however you can deplete the batteries and lower the voltage resulting in darker colors (the Sebenza is color faded from front to back on purpose) The color change is really easy to see, and you can pull it out to check. I timed how long they were in just so both sides matched. It literally takes 20 seconds to achieve these colors.
Another note is keep everything not Ti or the aluminum used for the cathode out of the solution. Steel, copper and whatever else you are using will draw all the voltage away from the Ti. You can do 1/2 then flip and attach to the other end and do the other 1/2.

My Christmas present to myself came a day early and it will be used to open all of the crazy packaging that my kid's gifts will undoubtedly have.

You can almost see all of the mods done from this view. I love carrying this knife!

And this pic highlights my favorite mod.

How durable is that anodizing?

Wow, this knife should come stock like this. Wish the part above the hole was like that on mine!

Good so far. I did it about a month ago and I've carried both the Techno and Sebenza. The Techno has spent some time clipped inside my bag next to a flashlight in sheath and does not show any real wear. There is a little wear on the sharp edges but that is unavoidable. You can still see the stonewash under the anodized color so adding more scratches on top just adds character IMO. Easy enough to re-do!

Finally put the Cuscadi smooth carbon backspacer on today:

Also removed the clip, which I never use (and is the only thing about the Techno I don't love due to its shifty nature).
