Hello,
This maybe in the wrong spot but I have a question. If this needs to be moved please do and I am sorry for opening it in the wrong place.

Does anyone know what happened to Roger Linger? I ordered a knife from him a while back, but have not been able to contact him sense last November when he gave me a delivery date. I have two other knives from Roger and really love them, he's a top notch maker. I just want to make sure all is well in his part of the woods.
Does anyone know what happened, is he ok, still making knives? Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ric

Ric,

Moving this to Good bad Ugly. There are a lot of questions and few answers on Roger over there.

Does anyone have any new/up to date info? Most of the links I have seen are a bit old. I tried to send an e-mail to Roger through Bladeforums and it was returned undeliverable. One of his posts says to sendmail to his Netzero account. I have been sending mail to that account for months with no responce, thats the only e-mail I have ever had for Roger.
Any new info would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,

Ric

If you know about where he lives you might try whitepages.com. Or google him and get a map to to his door.

Problem with that is, I live in Seattle and it would cost me more to go to W.VA. then I have down on the Knives.

Jason Richmond was selling a WSK from Roger a week or so ago in Custom for sale by individual forum...look there for one..

I would never buy a knife directly from Roger or give him any money. I hope you didnt either. He may be a good knife maker but he is a lousy business person and a crook in my opinion..

3.5 years ago I had him make a set of knives I designed and had no problem. After I got the first set I ordered another set for my wife and put down a deposit. That was almost 2 years ago. Having a good experiance the first time I didn't think I would run into these issues with Roger. He was straight forword and a pleasure to deal with the first time.
Now, I don't know what to think but thanks for the suggestion.

Ric

Gee, Roger hasn't visited Bladeforums for going on five months. I guess he got tired of people complaining about not getting the knives they had paid for.

i know this has been said 10,000 times but i am gonna make it 10,001 NEVER pay up front for a knife, a small deposit is ok if its made outta say damascus or has ivory handles or has a lotta gold or whatever, then a small deposit to cover the expensive materials is ok, but when guys start asking for the whole sum up front this should be a huge red flag, most honest smiths wont ask for anything anyway.

its also doing the smith a favor as a lot seem to really get into trouble with delivery if they already have your money, so if folks would just refuse to do that a lotta decent smiths would still be in the knife 'biz imho.

but imho the very second someone starts in on a deposit or payment in full, its a good indicator ya should go elsewhere.............
