I became fascinated with the tracker movie knife several years ago and have made several versions of my own design. I watched a couple of YouTube video reviews of the TOPS version of the Tracker and incorporated some improvements cited by the reviewers. First 3/16 inch thick 1095 (TOPS uses 1/4") was selected to provide a strong but lighter blade that makes both good chopping and cutting easy and makes the the knife more pleasant to carry. Several of the reviewers complained that the location of the half round fell on the chopping sweet spot and reduced the effectiveness to chop. So the blade was lengthened slightly to move the natural chopping sweet spot forward away from the half round. This custom Tracker incorporates a saw back with aggressive teeth which makes it a great notching tool. Much is made of the Trackers rear cutting edge being used as a draw and push knife but I have never seen a draw knife that had two bevels, one on each side. I ground this one more like a true draw knife from just one side (chisel ground style).
The sheath I made for this knife is similar to a Hedge Hog with less features that allows for either a scout carry or standard hang it off your belt vertically.

Specs:

Blade is 3/16 inch thick 1095 high carbon steel differentially heat treated.

Handle is nicely figured Koa wood scales with black spacers on the knife's full tang.

Overall blade Length (tip to wooden scale) is 6.5 inches, the front edge is flat ground.

Draw Knife Length is 2 inches and chisel ground.

Notching saw back length 3.5 inches

Overall Length about 12.5 inches

Brown tooled heavy 8/9 ounce leather sheath set up to carry either horizontally or vertically (shown).

SOLD Price is $225 plus $15 shipped in the US

Very nice but I love my two trackers. Here they are compared to a TOPS Tracker and JK Knatchet

Hello Ossa1970, Make me laugh. If memory serves me correctly these were the first two Trackers I made. Thanks for sharing them with me. Kelley

Your welcome! I love them both, great job on the old and new. I also have the one below the tracker, don't have much info on it but it's a great bed side knife and work knife .

Hello Ossa1970, I only made a couple of those with the big finger hole in them. My dad gave me a few old large Dato blades he didn't want anymore and I fashioned them into a blade. The steel would then be L6 or similar, these were of vintage stock with no carbide tips so the steel of the Dato had to do all the cutting. The wood I'm not sure of from the photo, could be burl walnut but might be Mango as well. I reheat treat the blades after I'm done because a I not gentle about the grinding process and I want the edge to be harder than it was a saw blade anyways.
Thanks again for showing me some of my older work. Kelley

And thanks for you comments Tinwiskers.

You know it seems to me the whole persona of the concept behind this knife - is just what you have done - a rough looking tool that will engage and survive. I guess another way of bringing my point out is to say - should a knife like this and what it represents - be all tidy and neat and without scratches and bruise even in its virgin state. The artist in you has done well here.
It's 0225 - I ain't on the koolaid - which is good because It seems like a good idea to buy this from you,. Email to follow. I want to have a one of kind tracker.
Thank you.
