Custom versus Product Knives, better heat treatment?

I've read that a good custom maker can put an amazing heat treatment on a knife steel better then a production company because they have more time to give each knife.

I haven't had much experience with customs

Any input from the blade heads?

If you have one of these ... you can achieve maximum utility from whatever steel you are using. Just follow the recommended specs for the steel.
