.....in that there's the practice of developing "frankenwatches" from parts of other watches to make up something you specifically want, like the hands from one type, case from another, then add, say, a Luminox hour marked dial face with an ETA automatic hacking movement, then having it PVD coated to create the perfect watch. It usually requires a sympathetic watch repair/maker, since it's harder than it looks.

In the '70s his work was commanding upwards of $100,000.00 and he only made one clock or watch per year. The really neat thing was that he LITERALLY MADE THE TIMEPIECE FROM SCRATCH and this wasn't his main source of income. Very few individuals on the planet are capable of his feats while there must be thousands of "knifemakers" in the world. To me the comparison pales!
