I am looking for something akin to the Hibben Machete but with scales instead of a wrap. I want it to be between 5/16" and 3/8" thick with an 11" blade and a 5" handle including pommel with no guard necessary. I will be using this primarily for battoning so it needs to be made of a very tough and resilient steel. I was thinking 5160, A2 or 1090. I am looking for a reasonable degree of fit but not much in the way of finish. I will probably be putting Duracoat on the blade so polish or other coating is unnecessary (unless you Duracoat). I will send you a few sketches but mostly I am trying to get a ballpark on price.

Thanks for your consideration.

I might be interested in doing that for you. In order to give an accurate quote I'd like to have a pic or a sketch, the width from edge to spine, and your choice of handle material. I'm thinking some of Aldo's .355" L-6 would be just the ticket. Regards.

I hope the image works but this is what I had in mind. Let me know if something I have here adds a lot of cost and I can make some adjustments. As I said, this will be a worker so I don't need anything adding extra cost unless you or I think it is totally necessary.

I can definitely make that, I just need to iron out a few details on the handle and guard. I always like to actually talk to someone if possible before starting on a full custom piece. I like to do so to make sure we are on the same page and everything is perfectly clear on both ends. So you can call me at 318-339-8290 pretty much any time or you can give your number and I'll call you. Either way is fine, just let me know. Thanks again.
