custom work on Delica with green G10

I have read a lot of posts here, over the last few years, about Tom Krein & his grinding skills.

I finally got the money together to have him work on my Delica with green G10 & FACTORY flat ground blade.

He ground a splinter picker tip & beveled the spine (like that on a Calypso Jr.

Holly Cr@p !!! this is a cross between a super-powered Calypso Jr. & a lightsaber.

Tom does amazing work, reasonably priced, super-quick turn around time & it looks like it would have come right from Spyderco's factory.

Now I need to save up to have my R2 done & maybe my Kopa & my Caly3's.:thumbup:

Exactly, the blade is factory full-flat ground on the G10 version.
I only needed to have spine ground to a splinter picker point & the swedge added to the spine.

If I buy the ZDP-189 D4, Tom will have to grind a good portion of the ZDP stock away (loosing the bug logo) - but tom has his own kick-ass logo to replace it, letting anyone see that it was reground by Tom.


I love both my G10 Caly3 & this G10 Delica, both in full flat-ground blades, but the dropped-reinforced point on the Delica was just visually unappealing to me. It truly seems like the blade stock is thinner with the swedge added.

I am still kicking myself for trading my blue handled, ZDP189 D4, but could not stand how thick the grind was on the flat-ground saber blade.
I should have sent it to Tom, but did not want to loose the bug logo.
Now that Tom has his own Logo, the re-ground blade won't be so bare.

Now if only I could get spyderco, or a 3rd party to regrind the G10 on the Caly3, I would be in heaven.
