Looking to take a Sebenza and get some custom features done such as texturing, carving, anodizing, torching, etc.

Basically, taking the knife and making it into an EDC with some flair.

Something along the lines of a milder version of a Chris Martin knife (Phantom Steelworks), but without the drama that surrounds Mr. Martin.

Frank Recupero did a few knives for me, but he dropped off the face of the earth (at least in the knife world) about 15 years ago.

Anyone know of a RELIABLE and TRUSTWORTHY person doing such work today?

Kind of like this.........

But why?

Rek is a solid answer if you want to go that route. It's like putting rims and juvenile paintjobs on cars. It doesn't help unless you're only seeking to basically ruin a knife's worth. Otherwise it's just immature.

Regrind the blade, add different handle material, add cerakote or dlc. But for god's sake man, don't pimp your knife.

Why? Because I can. Pretty simple. I could give 2 shts about resale.

As for ruining the knife. Does CRK not put out countless knives with factory design work on them?

But thanks for putting in your less than 2 cents worth of comments.

Josh at REK is as solid as can be (I've literally never held a sharper knife). I'd shoot him an email and ask if he can handle the mods you want.

Good for you, douche. Ignore list you go...

Also check out Ti Survival for custom anodizing, they're doing some nice work.
Josh at REK has done numerous regrinds for me (even on CRK, and it was value added on resale due to his stellar rep!) with outstanding results.

Esteban at tisurvival is awesome. Hes done a few anodizing jobs for me, and he has the patience of a saint :D

If the changes don’t impact function, and given that the OP isn’t worried about resale value, there are no objective reasons for not personalizing it. Describing it as ‘immature’ is a miss, just as it would be a miss to say that it’s immature to choose a hairstyle, beard length, pair of jeans for the day, or any other matter of personal taste in presentation. I’m sure it would be a rare person who would say it’s immature to restore an old Stingray, but we’re talking about the same kind of thing— making something to fit personal preference. If that’s not OK, then I’d have to assume that it’s not OK to eat favorite foods, back favorite sports teams, buy a car you like, choose clothes, have grooming preferences, be attracted to a person or persons, etc. All of these are about preference, and none isnore or less valid than any other. Even Lakers fans have a place in this world.

Your knife, do what you like with it. Make sure to post pics after it is done! FWIW, I have very little interest in modern knives for myself, but enjoy seeing others

That’s pretty neat.

The only thing that concerns me with anodizing is that when used/scuffed up/etc. it will wear off.

I don’t think that would be the case with a “flamed” coating like in the 1st post, as it would impregnate the material a little bit. I could also be totally wrong about that too, so don’t take that as fact. LOL!

Going to have to talk to the customizers and get their opinions.

Both the knives i pictured were anodized years ago and have been carried a lot. Doesn't wear as bad as you think.
