This bushnub just arrived at my doorstep today, and I'm blown away by how beautiful it is. Thanks again, Andy, for holding this giveaway!
When I first unrolled the butcher paper, I was struck with the sense that this knife is too beautiful to use. That quickly passed as it came up against my deeply held belief that knives (and all tools) are at their most beautiful when in use. If it looks this good just sitting there, imagine how good it'll look when it's taking a bite out of the day's task! Expect to see some pics in the User Pics thread once I get a sheath for it.
The filework has amazing symmetry and flows beautifully with the spalting (which the A2 steel takes deeply and darkly, I might add). I love how the filed bits are blacked out to let the polished spine shine through. I can't quite tell if this is done with oxide or with resin, but I'm leaning toward the latter.
Enough of me prattling on, though. Here's some pics!
