Ok guys, if anyone is interested in how the changeover from Taylor Brands to BTI has affected customer service, this should make you feel good:

I bought a 294ot (linerlock) from an online store. The knife very sharp and f&f was great. But after a month of heavy use the center rivet came loose and was sliding out of the handle (upon inspection it was not peened properly). I called BTI, mailed the knife back, and received another in 6 days. The replacement was just awful: black grease on knife, many fingerprints, poor scale fit, blade wobble, uneven blade grind, scratches on bolsters, loose clip screws, center pin did not come completely through handle. In short, a disaster. I called BTI, and calmly voiced my complaint. The guy I spoke with apologized profusely, offered me any OT knife I would like, and did not even require a return of the faulty knife. For my troubles I received an 8ot in ironwood - beautiful, functional, and delivered in a timely manner. I know there's many opinions regarding the quality of Chinese "Old Timers" and I agree the loss of the original Schrade cutlery was a definite heartbreaker. But I must admit I'm very pleased with the customer service BTI is providing. At least in my case I can honestly say I have zero complaints. Yes, I got 2 faulty knives (which is my fault partially at least for internet ordering), but BTI did not stop until I had a good, solid, attractive knife - that cost more than the original one I purchased! I know it's not a collectible, but it skins bream great, stays sharp, takes a heckuva beating, and spends all day everyday in my back pocket. Count me a satisfied customer. I'll be buying another when this one wears out, and all 3 of my boys will have Old Timers too. For $18 and customer service like that, it's a deal that's hard to beat!

Buck 110 is similar priced, with great customer service. Glad to hear your happy with OT.

Good to know, I just bought an SCHF9 from Schrade/BTI, it's all good so no customer service needed. But good to know they are standing behind the products.

Thanks for the reply regarding the Buck. I think I’ll grab a 371 in bone. I am generally of the opinion that Buck makes a more rugged knife, but OT tends to have better blades (speaking of slippies- the 7cr17mov is better than Buck’s 420j2). At any rate I like em both and I’m glad BTI is doing customer service at the same level as Buck.
