Customization

What is it that you are looking to have done? The reason I ask this is that there are some guys that do specific customizing.

oh i see. Basically i'm looking to change the handle slabs. If the blade could be changed, like have it be waved, thats what i'm looking for.

To have it waved would they have to make a new blade?

One of the members of this forum has received permission from Ernie Emerson to do Wave modifications to knives. His user name is STR.

I'm a newbie, so don't laugh, but what is the purpose of waved blades? Thanks.

it makes it so as you draw the knife from the pocket the wave part snags on the corner of the pocket opening the blade

Doesn't Santa Fe Stoneworks do a lot of handle customization?

I'm not sure if they do used ones... MWM said he does some mods, I've never got a mod from him but he made me a nice piece! ;)

Steve, i wan wondering about how much it would cost to put a wave mod on to a cold steel scimitar. Thanks for the help

The only knife ColdSteel makes that is a candidate for the Wave IMO is the Pro-lite with stainless clip point blade and maybe (big maybe because it is a major reprofile job) one of the Trail Guide folders.

The Schimitar's upswept blade and "high point" along with no hump or raised area in the back that is necessary for a proper functioning 'Wave' make it hard for me to see it working without an add on piece of steel which I don't do.

Folders that are candidates for a Wave are like the Spydercos with a natural hump area in back, the BenchMade HK34, BenchMade 420 Resistor, and others like this with enough of a raised area at the thumb stud or opening hole.

We really can't discuss business on this forum though as far as pricing and what not. If you want to talk about it it for something other than a Schimitar it has to be in private.

Steve

oh ok. Yeah i thought the blade profile would be a problem. Thanks for the help anyways. i think i'll look into buying a spyderco manix :)

The waved blades only work on a knife with a "tip-up" carry option. I believe that the Manix does NOT have that option and wouldn't work with the waved blade, without modification to the clip. Unfortunately, the same is true for the Military and Paramilitary.
