it makes it so as you draw the knife from the pocket the wave part snags on the corner of the pocket opening the blade

Please forgive my newbie-ness, but I know nothing about this "wave", and two things popped into my mind as I read about this:

#1. I bet "waved" knives cause a lot of accidental cuts to flesh and clothing.

#2. Can a "waved" knive be easily withdrawn from a pocket, with the knife still closed? If not, see #1!

Are my worries justified, "wave" people?

it can be drawn out from the pocket without a problem. just make sure you don't catch it on the pocket corner, which isn't that hard to do. For #1 i've never had any problems with a wave type option. It will where out a the corner eventually but i've never had that problem

There is a learning curve to get familiar with the use of the Wave but so far I have not had any incidents like you asked about, regarding cuts of flesh or clothing.

Watch the videos in the 'video vault' at the Emerson knives web site. There is a Wave demo for each of the knives offered with it built into them. http://www.emersonknives.com/Tact_index.html

There seems to be little gray area on the Wave. You either love it or you hate it in most cases. There is also some debate as to how reliable it is and this seems to be dependent on the person using it, the knife used, as well as the fit and design of the pants and pocket the knife sits in. Just my own observations from using it with factory waved knives and those I've done for myself and others. Personally I love my BenchMade 420 with the Wave on it (that I did myself).

you can do the same with a lot of CRKT knives
The little carson flipper can be snagged on the pocket and it can be drawn

You might check my homepage in my profile for my latest recommendations in pocket upgrades once you get one and start using it.

Sweet way to make using it that much more hassle free.

Glad to help.

 How can you do it(Wave)the CRKT knives? The flipper works in the opposite direction as the knife comes out of the pocket. It wouldn't open the knife. If you pulled it out of your pocket in the direction that the blade needs to open, then the blade would hit your hand and not open completely.

If I am wrong on this PLEASE correct me.... I don't want to confuse anybody.

I have a M-16 and a Hammond Cruiser and they can't be opend the way you explain.. That I can tell.... :o

you'd have to see it. first of all i don't use the clip. Its gotta be tip down and then you just pull by the back end and there you go.

Then why not get an Emerson?

This is exactly what I asked when guys contacted me to make a knife they had into a Waved blade.

Most said something to the effect that they didn't like liner locks, or they didn't want to spend that much money or they simply liked the knife they currently carried and wanted it done that way. There were others that had issues with 154 CM and didn't want that steel which I guess is all Ernie uses these days. (?)

Just out of curiousity is there anyone who could put a mother of pearl
handle on a production knife? And what kind of price would that be?

One of my partners over at my home page does that all the time using Pau Shell, MOP, and other exotic handle materials.

His name on the KF and other forums is OUPA. Check out some of his work via the link to my homepage in my profile.

Present to him what you have in mind and he'll be more than happy to work with you.

I started a thread over in KF, so now I can't wait to hear what there is to
be said about that project.
