I just finished this for a customer that had the original one I've made many years ago stolen.

Base Knife: Emerson Knives Folding Persian.

Modifications:
- Swedge. Removal of black teflon coating and satinizing the blade.
- Deer stag handles (matching bead for the lanyard)
- Mokume (1010/1070/copper) dovetailed bolsters, backspacer and opening disk.

Really great looking work!
I love the look of Mokume.
How durable is Mokume compared to Damascus and
other bolster/scale materials?

Ariel,
beautiful - I was going to ask the same question about the mokume - you had to do it in a can, obviously.

nice work, as usual.

Thanks guys!

I missed this question yesterday. Mokume is VERY durable, I've never had any kind of problem with it. Only thing to take into consideration is that if you use carbon steels on it like on this one my customer requested, it might eventually rust if not taken care of.

I do laquer it to help with that, and it seems to do the trick as I've been wearing a belt buckle I've made with this exact same mokume for two years now and it never got traces of rust
