As some of you may or may not have seen in the traditional forums, I have taken an interest in modifying Imperial knives. I really like the thinly ground carbon steel, and they are widely available in rough shape begging to be fixed up!
For this knife, I removed the original clam shell handles. I completely disassembled the knife, and using extremely light abrasives I removed excess dirt, surface corrosion, or anything else from the blades, the spring, and the liners. I then reassembled the knife using new nickel silver pin stock. I created new handle scales using ivory paper micarta, and attached them with an epoxy to the liners. I used a ball peen hammer to peen down the pin stock and hold everything together. I then hand finished everything to the point where you see it in the pictures below. Back spring is flush with liners for both blades closed, and for each blade it sits just a hair shy of the liners when the blade is open. The knife is a touch over 3 inches closed. I adjusted the action to the best of my ability such that the blades pull easily and have a bit of snap. Primary blade does have a small amount of play, but no more than a "click" that you feel putting pressure on the sides. The blades are in contact with each other at rest, but its a very very thin knife. Finally, I put on a fresh 1000 grit edge with my Edge Pro. The new edge is shown in the last two photos.
I am looking to cover expenses here, and turn this into sort of a self-funded hobby. I would like to ask for $29 or best offer for this sweet little knife shipped to your door USPS, all PayPal fees included. Thanks for taking a look!
