$125 - What you're looking at is one crazy knife. This was actually one of my earliest "custom" endeavors using mammoth tooth and heat-colored damascus. I codenamed it the "Spyderco Z". Because of this, it is one of those sentimental things. But I still have the first knife I ever customized, so this puppy has just got to go. But hey, it could be worth a million dollars once I become a world-renowned maker
. It definitely gets my vote as the most interesting knife I've ever done. I took the blade and compression lock of a Spyderco "S" and basically made a knife from it. But I wanted to be really creative, so I ended up using a billet of colored damascus for one handle scale, and not even using a second. The way it is designed, it doesn't need two handle scales. The carbon fiber protects you from the blade when it is closed, a large washer is sort of like a right handle scale, and the abalone functions to keep the blade from wobbling (hey, if the knife is this weird already, why not use abalone instead of the traditional steel?). Then I added a small piece of mammoth tooth to cover the tip of the blade on the damascus side. The blade was also heat colored a bit. The fit and finish of this knife is not perfect compared to a $400 custom. Some of the color on the damascus is worn and it does have a very small bit of blade wobble (though surprisingly impressive for using a thin compression lock and only one handle scale). But it definitely scores a "11" on the uniqueness scale. I don't recommend it for an everyday carry unless you don't do much more than open boxes. I think if you pressed really hard you could pop off the abalone. I actually had this happen when I let one of my friends see it. He couldn't figure out how to close the compression lock, so he just tried his hardest to force it closed (really good idea). I glued it on better the second time, but I still don't trust it like an SMF
. Anywho, if it doesn't sell on here, it's going to Evilbay where some guy from Austria will bid it up to $1000 because he thinks it is some uber-rare Spyderco custom
.

Richard
