It's Highly Collectable Just The Way It Is !!!
Altogether the wrong blade shape for the kitchen -- Chisel grind is the wrong blade for food prep.
I have a Camillus Air Force Pilot Knife from the 1950s -- which I screwed up in high-school trying to "revise" it into something less K-Bar looking. I replaced the grip with stag, and ground the hilt to half-hilt fitted flush with the grip. There's no changing the blade shape. I trimmed the sheath with boot lace. Every time I look at this knife I say to myself "Dumb idea gone bad!" Should have realized what I had and left it in original condition.
Your K-Bar is collectable because it has an age to it, AND it belongs to Marines.
You could take your USMC headgear and have it fitted with ribbons and bows, but it just wouldn't . . . You see where I'm going here?
I remember the oath they taught us in the Army: "This is my rifle. There are others like this, but this one is mine."
This is YOUR K-Bar.
