Am I missing something? I just found this PDF From BUREAU OF CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION. It Goes case by case with manufacturers complaints to exact mis-understanding of the "Switchblade act". CRKT and others are standing to loose Millions. they made their complaints to the order and in every instance on the document the gov. said the the knives in question where NOT switchblades and ok to ship and own. Knives like the Ichi and my tigh. Assisted knives and all. That look completely like "Dangerous weapons" and "act" like switchblads are classified as NOT switchblades because of makers appeals. maybe my English is bad?
Here-e

Customs say, that all assisted openers are "Automatic" knives. They also say that all one hand knives are "Automatic" knives and that any knife that you can pinch the blade open far enough to snap the handle down is an "Automatic". All of these knives will be forbidden entry to the U.S. and the new deffinition will become the law of the land and then Dept of Commerce will forbid them in Interstate Commerce. Then we are all screwed.

Well The top 20 pages look ok. but the bottom 2 suck. Oh well. OTF Microtechs are defiantly "Switchblades", and I have More of them then anything. And EDC them and they can do what they're gonna do. This Might make Gun Owners jump into action faster too. I have Dual Citizenship. U.S. And Israel. Israel EVERYTHING is illegal. On the east coast of the US anything Sharp is a "Weapon" that you can go to jail for. So you might as well go balls out and carry a Microtech HALO or Makora with Style.

That's what I was saying. it's been like that on the east coast( NY,NJ) ect.. for atleast 10 years. So my HALO Is a no-no everywhere. But I still carry it. and it's easy as pie to get if you have the $$.

It just looks like on the PDF that they where saying that assisted knives where NOT switchblades, for the first 20 pages, then the bottom gets screwy.

It's annoying if it goes this way, but it might wake some folks up finally!!!!!!!

I guess if all folders are "switchblades" I wonder if states with liberal knife laws will still let you carry them, or small DOzier like FBs.

Or since it's Customs and BP, then States laws should stay the same. Like AZ Law is GREAT!!!! It might just force manufacturers to make them in the USA!!!!!

What if we do a little "human sacrifice" as far as knife owners go. We flood police departments across the country with knife arrests. So many knife arrests that they can't get anything done. Just an idea. Civil disobedience worked in the south.

I'll have to move there sometime...

Hey at least no one will get stabbed anymore if this works out! :p

But seriously: I live in the Netherlands. Non-switchblades are legal for EDC (I'm not really sure about AO's: grey area I guess).
A couple of months ago I was cornered by 2 psychopaths and almost got killed.
No reason.
The weapon used was a screwdriver...
I was incredibly lucky to survive.

Anyway: so much for knife laws.

At least you can legally take a bong hit LOL :D

So the date this applies is 21 Jul 09?

Wonder if I should mail my knives back to the states instead of bring them in my checked luggage (Im due to PCS/transit the states, otw to Germany. 20 Aug). Though as military I know my auto's are authorized for official business. As long as Im carrying them en route to a new assignment I should be good to go.

Now I plan on leaving them in CA at my in-laws place along with my firearms...damned draconian German knife laws. Gonna take my Swick though.

You can find the most up to date news at www.KnifeRights.org. Knife Rights, in cooperation with the NRA, AKTI and others, is working hard to stop this Customs Pocket Knife Grab on a variety of fronts. There is a LOT going on behind the scenes right now, don't anyone assume that nothing is happening just because we can't yet discuss it all publically. We are fighting this tooth and nail and have hopes that with continued support from all who have already written and who we hope will write again when prompted in the very near future, that we will defeat this.

Hang in there and be ready.

Thanks Doug. I fired a snail mail 3 weeks ago off to Devin Nunez (R CA) who has responded to me before.

NO! Once Customs issues a final rule, it doesn't become enforceable until 60 days later. So, no immediate worries. Lot's of potential future worries, but not right now, today.

Contrary to popular beliefs soft (or any) drugs aren't legal in the Netherlands.
The laws aren't as strictly enforced as they could be but don't that lull you into a false sense of security.
The cops will pounce you if they believe you carry a sizeable amount of say marihuana.
They'll seize your pityful 200 grams, toss you in jail and :D.
You'll go home cuffed. You don't want that to happen. Trust me, if only on this one.
If you're unlucky or they just don't like you you'll be in a world of hurt and will have to deal with it for years or forever.

Please avoid that. You know you want to. Do so. Please.

i would say 200 grams is a fairly decent amount, not just over the top but quite a bit, still, 28 grams= 1oz so its right around 4 oz, would sure get ya into a tight in the US lol.

I guess my Buck 110's are safe!

Stainz

Nope! Try pinching the blade and dropping the handle! One handed opening with a circular thrust or movement! It doesn't matter that it wasn't intended to be opened that way, nor the fact that it can't be readily used in that position unless you change grips--if you can do it, it's toast. :(

I guess Buck did a good thing by coming out with the Redpoint, Transport etc...they lock CLOSED and not just open. :o

THANK YOU for all your efforts!
