i cut one of the buggy wheel i have in half. i used a cut off saw. the cut ends look like shiny steel. ofcourse it has some uneveness to it but if its wrought iron what should it look like--thanks marekz
i have not worked with wrought iron on any level. say i had a piece that ia 1.5" wide x1/4 x 12. its not flat but ofcourse i could hammer it. my question is that size doesnt limit me to a particular thickness. if i put it in the forge i could bang away at it and make it much thicker and wider while shortening it --right?1/4 is abit too small for guarde etc... so i guess the question is as stated above -- can manipulate it to the desired thickness? thanks -marekz

1/4 inch is plenty thick for most guards, and that's adding a lot of weight...
If you need thicker, it might be easier to stack 2 or more pieces and weld than to try to upset. Before you use it, polish a piece and etch it, some has more character than others...
