How many times over the years have you accidentally cut yourself with your knife?

It doesn't happen often but once in a while... for me id say maybe 5 times in the last 10 years.

Today while closing my liner lock neutron 2 I got my thumb pretty good...
Going to take a while to build the callous back up for the thumb deployment lol 🤣

Looks like it was sharp at least!
I've cut myself many many times over the years. Mostly on fixed blades.

Got myself a couple times pretty good with folders though too. Once while putting a folder I thought was closed all the way back into it's front pocket spot.....

I have cut my thumb when opening assisted knives! I have a bad habit of “following” the blade with my thumb using thumbstuds.

I only have flipper assisted knives now!!

I have cut myself a few times, but nothing recently. In 1965 I and several other men in my unit were standing in line at the U.S. Army Finance Center/Office, at Camp Kue, Okinawa waiting to get some Per Diem money. Just as we get close to the front of the line, in comes about 20 Laotian officers who are moved to the front of the line to get their money. One of our men, Pete "C" (RIP) is playing with the then new Buck 110 folder that many men in Special Forces had bought. Now it is finally it is almost his turn at the pay window, and he puts the blade of the Buck 110 against his right side and tries to close the blade, like you would do with a slip joint. Unfortunately the Buck 110 is a lock blade knife and he ends up stabbing himself in the right side, not badly, but enough that he is bleeding. He gets to the pay window and the Okinawan woman who is dispersing the money, looks at him and the blood on his hand and gets all excited and tells him he needs to go to the Camp Kue Hospital , located near by. Pete says he has wait a long time for his money and is not going anywhere until he gets paid. She pays him and we take him to the Emergency room, which is about 2 minutes away by car, where Pete gets a shot and several stitches. Lesson learned, do not try to close a lock blade knife like that. John

When I was about 8 I begged for a real Swiss army knife. I got one that was entirely too big to carry, too many blades. But the first time I opened it it flicked open and cut me pretty good. Lol

Ive been cutting myself on accident ever since.

I bought a Gerber 06 Fast from Wally World a few years ago. When I got in the vehicle I took it out and started playing with it and figiting with it. For some stupid reason while driving I reached over and flipped it open, and when I went to close it one handed while not looking the serration nipped the tip of my finger off. I barely felt it, pulled my handkerchief and put it on there trying to hold pressure on it while I drove home feeling like a dummy.
Gor home and thought I would slap a bandaid on it and thats when I realized everytime I removed the bandage and relieved pressure it would start bleeding all over the place. Bathroom looked like a murder scene, had to get my wife come help me wrap and tape it up. It healed back nicely eventually, cant even tell where it was at, but was an unpleasant reminder of how quick something can happen when you are not paying attention.

I flip live blade balis so about 5 hours ago? Honestly though I do flip live bladed ones so probably a couple times a year, mostly when drinking. It seems the times I assume I'm "as good as I ever was in my youth" perfectly correlate to times I think I can drink as much as I did in my youth.

I remember showing my knife novice buddy how smooth my Shirogorov was on the amazing MRBS. When I released the lock bar to close it, it tried to guillotine my finger. Oops.

Sure, haven’t we all at some point, whether or not it’s publicly admitted! 🤣

I have a Leatherman that was particularly blood thirsty when it was new. It liked to bite the hand that fed it.

I'll nick myself several times a year here and there.

As far cutting myself when closing a knife, I usually only do that when I am using a slipjoint that I forget has a half stop. The feature that is supposed to keep you from slamming it on your fingers sometimes stops and my fingers keep going. I usually ride the blades shut quietly out of habit, so if it abruptly stops moving, I sometimes end up poking some part of the meat of my palm.
