Cut my fingers on a CLOSED SEBENZA

On my classic large sebenza I noticed that the top edge of the handle curves toward the middle of the handle so that when CLOSED, the blade edge comes quite close to being exposed through the open back. Well, I was playing with my knife today and I guess I gripped the closed knife too hard, the blade sliced the inside of two of my fingers... hurts like hell when I extend my fingers now as the skin spreads apart....

Happen to anybody else???

Wondering if this why the regular sebenzas have the top handle curving outward as opposed to inward on the classics?

Maybe I have extra fat between the PIP and DIP on my fingers...

sounds like a freak accident. You'd better send that sebenza to me to avoid further accidental wounds. :D:p;)

They make gloves with wire mesh or Kevlar for types like that !

Have not cut myself on my Sebenza, but right now, I have 3 separate cuts healing on my right hand. i need to stop playing with my knives or pay a lot more attention. You always feel so dumb after the cut because you know it usually could have been prevented.

I sliced my finger pretty well on a Spyderfly a few days ago, it went right to the bone on the tip of my ring finger!

Bloods great and all, but where is the wound, lets get a look at the good bit ???:D

That handle has all the blade it can take!! You'll heal up. But no more cuts!

To be honest, from the moment I got my first Classic Seb, this has been a concern of mine. The blade just looked a little too close. I ran my fingers down the back a few times to see if it would cut, but no matter how hard I push, the skin is still a fraction of an inch away from the blade.

yeah i did exactly that and the pad of my finger was never able to reach the blade... but after it happened, I realized the skin on the area one joint proximal to the pad of your finger is a lot more tender and can squeeze in there quite easily...

I was griping the knife while closed in a hammer grip and squeezed in there... so a word of caution to you all.

I am a idiot. I saw this thread and I proceeded to run the pad of my finger along the open back of my closed Sebenza. Well, I too cut myself. Not nearly as bad as you did but, I did draw blood. Mabye this is something that CRK should look into.

The next time everyone is jumping off the bridge I think I'll just stand by and watch.

This reminds me of a time way back...
I was at a construction site with my best friend.
There were some loose wires hanging out of a wall.
He brushed up against them while walking by, then jumped away saying, "That's hot!"
I said, "No way!" and grabbed a hold of them.
They were.

Yup, happened to me one day while driving home...stuck in traffic and just playing around with my closed Sebenza when all of a sudden I got that "Oh S**T!" feeling and sure enough, I cut myself too.

I'm just more careful now:)

I have 2 small Classics, and I can not,not matter how hard I try, cut myself on one of my closed Sebbies.

You guys didn't your mothers tell you that knives are not toys to be played with. If you're going to do stupid things with your knives don't blame CRK.:p;):barf:

If you need to play with a folder, do yourself a favor and do it with a trainer type knife.:thumbup:
