Cut off too much....

I've had a hard time quitting the nasty habit of biting my nails and the only solution that has been working for me is keeping my nails short.

Now with my new found love for traditionals I've adjusted to keep my thumb nails just a hair longer to be able to open my knives. I guess I'm not the only one that maintains their nail length to accommodate our trads.

That's a very nice looking tool, and I'm sure with A.G.'s dedication to quality it's a good one. But there's something so wrong at a deep level if you need a tool to open your cutting tool. I mean aside from cutting your nail too short.

Carl.

If a purpose-built tool is offensive, perhaps the Key Sergeant will pass. I tested mine based on the AGR link and found it works just fine. I think I'm still too clumsy to risk EDCing a Case, though.

Luckily they grow back. :) Everything is back to normal.
I've only really started seriously carrying traditional knives this year. Outside an Opinel at least. I have plenty of those one handed opening knives and small fixed blades. So I don't have to worry about not having a sharp tool with me. :)
Oddly enough, even the one day I had trouble opening with a nail nick, I still had my peanut in my pocket.

Those who call us girly men can struggle opening their knife while we charge with ours already opened :D.
And they retreat at the sight of our kilts and preopened slipjoints. :D
I'm with Jackknife. I usually file my opener nail to the right length/roughness instead of always trimming. I never have a problem with my Nut (I pinch open it) but I have filed my nails too short to open a barlow or TL-29 secondary blade many a time.
