Cut the crap with Trappers?

Most of the old timers in the rural deep south, where I grow up, used a yellow handle CV Case trapper for everything, especially dressing out deer.

Even though the CV yellow Sodbuster (another popular user) is discontinued, you can still find them at knife shows.

United Kingdom Pen Knife. A spyderco made without a lock and in a legal length for carry in 'United Kingdom'. (IIRC)

It seems like it always a compromise. Anything that feels good in your hand during use is too big to carry comfortably and anything small enough to feel good in the pants leaves you wishing for more during use. Once I find the balance it probably will not be socially acceptable. I know that people get by with peanuts but I don’t see how. You can’t even slice a big bagel with one can you? I like my 31048 EDC because it is light and lengthy but the handle is too small to grip for anything that takes numerous cuts and I miss having a second blade. So I have to have a tougher heavier knife for outdoor activities.

It is so odd. By trying to simplify my life with a goal of trying to use one knife for so much, I have done the exact opposite by accumulating clutter (other knives) trying to find the one.

Does anyone know exactly how much more a Case trapper with bone weighs than one with the yellow handle?

Also, what year did Case stop making the 6347 stockman in CV? I would like to have one of those perhaps.

A lot of questions I know, but did Case ever make a muskrat in CV for Both blades?

Yep, I just picked up one new in box, for 14 dollars at an estate auction. Still has the papers, the old guy that died never used it. Fortunately there were not a lot of knife nuts there. The old guy collected coins too. My friend that I went with bought 96 rolls of nickels (all BU) for 1.50 a roll. Auctioneer not too sharp. But we did not want to cause a fuss and ended up high bidder for them. :D

Some days are just better than others!

The 6347 in CV for many years was a "standard" in the Case line but was last made in 1990. The muskrat with two CV blades was another long time standard...was discontinued sometime in the late 90's or early 2000's.
