cutco kitchen/ combat knives PLEASE HELP!!!

Interesting. It looks very similar to the Next-Gen Ka-bars. Those are available in AUS8 and D2.

I have a kitchen full of Cutco and I used to work for them and I will probably stick with them. But for that price you, yourself, can do much better. Look to ESEE or Ontario heck even cold steel.

Why so many people here totally knocking Ka-bar? The knife likely only has the Ka-bar name on it for the style of it, and the fact that they are both owned by the same parent company (I believe). You people are acting like all Ka-bars suck, when most of them are actually very nice. Just because a company has it's name on a single bad item, you can't discredit the entire company. The Cold Steel Spikes are very overpriced to just be 420 SS knives, but that doesn't mean that all Cold Steel knives are bad, just those ones.

There is literally not one post in this thread knocking Kabar, and about half of them suggest getting a real Kabar instead of this Cutco one. There are a few knocking Cutco, though, so maybe you misread (?)

I really need to stop skimming articles. I did actually misread. I still made a good point though, even if it was on a false premises.

i was offended couple months back at my first run in with cutco when they told me their knives are atleast 10 times better then the spyderco caly 3 i had in my pocket.

I would be too. Regular 440 id not better than the steel on decent Spyderco's.

I would like to thank you all for your help! I think that since i am not a huge fan of ka- bar but would like one in my collection, I may just go with the large version of the classic model (leather handle). As for kitchen knives, I've had my eye on the cold steel set for quite a while now and for 200... I can't complain. as for an outdoor knife, I would like to look into the essee knives... maybe a junglas. I still want an sk5 gurkha kukri cold steel though.

That is for sure! 440A is inferior to the steel used on Spyderco's main Chinese-made knives (like the Tenacious and the Byrd line), which is inferior to the rest of their steels.
