I'm looking to get a small, nonthreatening folder for the wife, who is not a knife person, but who does occasionally need to cut stuff.

Previously I'd been thinking along the lines of a pearl handled Al Mar, but I'm now leaning towards a green & blue Dog Tag.

Any alternate suggestions I should be thinking of?

Light use folder that is cute enough looking, and not crap.

I'd look at a Swiss Army Knife (SAK). A zillion models to choose from and perhaps the least threatening knife on the planet.

That's what my wife carries on her keys. She didn't want anything bigger and she absolutely loves it.

The Misses carries a Pink breast awareness Spyderco Ladybug. They can be found for less than $40.

Got my wife a pink Sak Classic. Small, non threatening, good quality and not at all expensive. Knife, scissors and nail file. All she needs and goes on her keys or in her purse.

You can't beat the 17$ max Victorinox classic.
It's the most selling knife in the world for a reason .

They have many different colors from solid to translucent, they are available with many different graphics on them, and you can even get your name put on it.
It's extremely useful from it's razor sharp blade, surprisingly excellent scissors, nail file / screwdriver, and it's tweezers and toothpick.

I am 100% certain that a SAK would miss the mark.

I gave up and asked her. She really likes the green Dog Tag, but likes the orange Dragonfly2 more.

I've gotten my wife a few, but the one she actually uses the most is he Ashworth Turtle.

See if you have a brick and mortar close by, so she can handle one.
My S/O thought the size of the dragonfly would be ok, but once she had it in hand, she changed her mind... The Ladybug is more her size.

That being said, my Misses is only 4'8" and a touch over 100 lbs.

Why would the most selling folding knife ever miss the mark ?
The beauty of the Victorinox classic is the fact that it's not just a knife, so a tool you don't use all the time isn't a waste of space because it's more than just a knife.

Because it doesn't appeal to the intended recipient.
All he said was that he's certain it would miss the mark , not why and not that she specifically told him she didn't like it.
I only asked because this knife was pretty much made for this, and I didn't think a non knife person would really care too much about how one looked.
You are probably right though that it just didn't appeal to her.

Another vote for the Victorinox gave my lady the stainless military model loves it been on her key ring for years. Can't beat the price and durability of those things.

3rd vote for the Dragonfly. My wife has carried one for years. I couldn't pry it from her hand if I wanted to.

Depends on what size you/she wants. The Dogtag is super cool but it is small and it doesn't have a lock. I sometimes carry a Ladybug too but it is also small. The dragonfly is quite a bit more functional than the Ladybug or Dogtag so if it is gonna be used often it may be a better choice. My wife carries a pink Spyderco Native5LW. That may be a tad big if she isn't a knife person.

It never seems to get a lot of love but my wife likes my Nishijin Cricket. It has a certain cool factor too.
