Recommendation? Cute handbag knife. Green Dog Tag?

I'd go with a SAK Classic. Let her carry it for a while and see if it works for her. You can always get her something else. My wife has a black Classic on the key ring.

One of my daughters has a blue Kershaw Shuffle that she "borrowed" from her husband.

I gave my wife a red Buck 425 not long after we met. It's been in her purse for around 20 years now. I see that they are still available for about the same price as I paid back then. US made, too.

Yep, the Buck 425 is still available for 16-20$ and are a great knife, but I'd go with the 283 because it's the same thing with a different look and only cost about 11$. It's handle also allows you to pinch the blade open where the nail Nick isn't always easy to get at on the 425.
Maybe they can be had for less online, but in my experience the 283 is basically an improved 425 for less money.

Size-wise, the dragonfly and others are great choices I'd think, its all her preference. Another one to look at is the serrated H1 manbug salt, since that is as low maintenance as possible, and smaller than the dragonfly. Best is to get them in-hand though.

I got mine a Buck 503 for her first. She loves it, carries it every day, and uses it regularly. I also recently picked up a Delica which she now has on her short list (I'm not giving up mine yet!;)). She also really likes her Buck 283 as well, but like myself, prefers the stoutness of the 505 over it.

I'd get here precisely what she wants; maybe even get both the dog tag and the Dragonfly. My wife carries a alox Vic Classic and she has a pink Leatherman PS2 Squirt. Unlike me, she likes having the scissors feature just in case.

I have the "carbon fiber" dog tag, it was cheap and I wanted it... it's not much of a knife and with its chisel grind really isn't the greatest box cutter/opener. Upside is NO ONE is going to think you are a mall ninja ready to murder the office. Fits nicely in the Zippo (change) pocket of a pair of jeans, too heavy and oddly shaped/weighted for me to actually use it like a dog tag.

I like that Lionsteel one, tiny like the dog tag but looks like a more useable blade. The Spydercos are probably better if you think she will be doing more than opening boxes though.

I gave my wife the choice of any of my blades a month ago expecting to lose a Spyderco of some sort but in the end she took an all stainless Boker Cinch combo edge (similar to Delica). Before that she claimed a wood handled Barlow and a Timberline Discovery Tanto combo edge. I'm just glad she took some stuff that's quality and safe to use. She has a Jarbenza she was using before. I guess the point is no matter how well you know somebody they may surprise you with their choices!

Why would the most selling folding knife ever miss the mark ?

Because she doesn't *need* any of the functionality strongly enough to look past the styling, which she wouldn't like.

Why commit to an EDC companion that you think is actively unappealing visually? I wouldn't.

Right now the Dragonfly is the leading contender, but I think the Cricket might fit the bill too.

I thought a MOP Al Mar might have had a chance, but she only curled her lip! LOL.

I get that , and even though I know their a perfectly capable little knife they just seem too miniscule and delicate.
My grandfather carried them daily for years as an only knife using them for everything and replacing them as needed, but I sure couldn't.

The beauty of the Victorinox classic is the fact that it's not just a knife, so a tool you don't use all the time isn't a waste of space because it's more than just a knife.

So you find the Vic Classic "too miniscule and delicate" and, at the same time, cannot see how a Vic Classic could ever "miss the mark"?

A few years ago, I got my wife the Dragonfly with the tattoo on it as an anniversary present, even though she was not a knife person. Now, she carries a Vic Classic on her keychain and either a Delica (in purple), Dragonfly, or both.
The Dragonfly she uses the least because of the sentimental value. :D The Classic handles a lot more than you'd think, but the Delica gets a lot of use as her "beater knife".

my fiancee does not carry often, but when she does she grabs my benchmade 210tk fixie or spyderco roadie

My wife is 5' 1"-87 lbs and her EDC is a Busse Battle Mistress. HUH, oH, sorry she just woke me to ask if I knew which purse she left her SAK compact in (great all around EDC). I told her-HEY, I haven't carried any of your purses in weeks. Still, an excellent recommendation.
