Cute little artsy knives?

Thank you guys to show all these wonderful and beautiful pieces. I have bookmarked this thread so that I can go back to look at these amazing designs again and again :highly_amused:

Please keep them coming!!

Wow, and here I thought the smaller artsy knives weren't really A Thing anymore!

The thread is from over two years ago, they probably aren't.

I saw small artistic knives at shows this year. They are not a big genre, but not everything is ABS or tactical :) There's always people who luv pretty sharp things that are small.

Murray your collection always leaves me speechless. I started collecting artsy knives when I first started collecting. Not very expensive but very nice. Then I switched to tactical knives lately. I think this thread has ignited my want to start collecting artsy knives again. I just hope one day I can achieve a collection as vast as yours. Thanks all if your for the pics!!!!

Glad to see this thread come back. While STeven's assertion that little artsy knives probably aren't "a thing" anymore is likely correct, so is brownshoe's observation that there are still a few to be found. This thread led to my "Little Fishy" knife that I had at ICCE. It was sold before I got there, and I could have sold three more.

I saw the Little Fishy, and it was pretty and well executed, plus it cut too :) IMHO, the design made the knife appealing to a broader audience than "knife people." Good work.

Very interesting articles. I love when people use their imagination. Superb job.

It's nice to see, from the replies above, that this isn't necessarily true. :)

Artwork like those on the first page is beyond my skills at the moment, but I definitely appreciate them and their beauty. I like it most though when beauty and utility can merge; I've seen a lot of those kind of knives here on BF, and hope to someday get to that level myself.

Hey, maybe when you get your skills up to where you feel you need them to be, you can lead a renaissance of small artsy knives.

If you don't find it of substance that Murray White is the ONLY collector the put up a large display of those types of knives, then I don't know what to tell you.

Personally, I very much like art folders and fixed blades that deviate from the norm and own a few....am likely to purchase a fixed blade around 5-7" much more so than a big honkin' bowie....but of the knives that I have tried to sell or trade in the last few years, those have been the slowest to move.

I have seen the catalogs or have been to the shows featuring the top art knife makers over the last 10 years....there certainly is not a lot of desire for small artsy knives at that level.

There isn't ANY desire for small artsy knives at the beginner level because they are not affordable for people spending around $200.00/knife.

The middle from say $300.00 to $1,500.00 is cut throat, as companies like Medford, William Henry, CRK, Kershaw,Benchmade.....are solidly there....then there are the mid tech knives and then new makers competing against existing makers.

SOMEONE will buy small artsy knives, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to the "market".

Good luck and

Best Regards,

Its true. I love little artsy knives but they don't sell even close to way they did. I have and will continue to suffer from it. My taste always evolves a little but I keep finding myself loving the same cute little knives. Sometimes you find beauties at great prices.
