For fear of being against forum rules, I won't mention the name of the actual channel but I have DirecTV and have a channel that is very similar to the home shopping network except it sells knives only. Every once in a while a nice traditional brand like Case will be on sale but for the most part the knives are cheap $10 or $15 knives. The last showcase had 100 knives being sold for $150.

It's quite obvious their target market is not educated cutlery folks as ourselves. Most of these knives are atrocious looking. Several of these knives seem to be inspired by the fantasy knife market. I doubt most gas stations would even inventory and sell these knives. Not sure what to think of this channel but there seems to be a demand or the network would not exist. I periodically turn it on for 10 to 15 minutes and it's the same crap over and over.

Have any of you all spent any time watching this type of show and would you ever buy a knife from these channels? Or even better, admit if you have purchased a knife from this type of show.

I watch it all the time because it's entertaining to see mustache'd men say "zombie" over an over with a "southern" accent. But I haven't bought any from there. I do wonder why they sell complete crap and then offer a super nice Case brand..it makes me wonder how aware they are that their brand is junk...

Lol.... YES!! I love when they get on the Zombie kick. I think they are a few years past the trend, but better late than never I guess.

I have an uncle who buys pocketknives from one of the standard home shopping channels. I don't think he actually uses the knives, though.

I have one non-knife guy friend who bought from them a couple of yrs ago...one hundred knives; one hundred bucks.
He said he uses one for two or three days until it breaks and then he picks up another one.
I would MUCH rather spend one hundred bucks for ONE NEW Spyderco PM2. In fact, I've done that very thing many times.
A scam is a scam is a scam. Those cheap blades will probably open the mail okay...

Your friend won't see the value when a broken blade ends up halfway into his palm. And that makes my point, there's no value to these knives so I'm just not sure why the network exists other than to prey upon those that know nothing about a quality-made knife. Every once in a while I see a "survival knife" that is identical to the replicas made in the 80s.

For a quick laugh please watch this clip!!

I love watching it. It's hilarious.
"Here we got a super nice hunter knife" as he holds up some fantasy Rambo looking knife with holes drilled all over it.
They have absolutely no idea how junky their knives are.

Lol! I love that clip. I knew an old guy that bought one of those "deals" with the intentions of selling them at a flea market. He couldn't give them away. That's Bad!

I've come to learn that not all knife collectors are after valuable cutlery. Many seem to be more like junk hoarders, and want ever knife they can get for under $5, even if it has broken scales, bent/broken blades, missing pieces. To each his own I guess. I feel bad for the next generation that has to sift through their father's 3,000 piece knife collection to find out if any are worth trying to sell.

I just can't watch it. Tom O'Dell's voice makes me sick to my stomach. :barf: And his minions are just as bad. :thumbdn: If there really is a hell, having to watch Cutlery Corner for eternity would be it for me.

I used to watch Knives Live (SMKW's cable channel) before it imploded. It was a delightful channel to snooze to . . . I loved the way those guys could destroy knifemakers' names. My personal favorite was Bob Terzuola. They pronounced his last name "terra-ZOO-la".

I've never seen this before- thanks for sharing, BryanJ. That has to be, one of the funniest clips that I've watched in awhile! :D

Would the guy with that nauseating sounding drawl, who said: "Right now, we may need emergency surgery in the studio," happen to be, Tom O'Dell? Now I know why, I never watch this garbage.

And yes, the thought of having to watch that for eternity, would be.....

I used to LOVE watching these when I was little kid. Dreaming of the day I turned 18 when I could buy one of these and make such a big profit haha.

I used to love watching that show as a kid.

I just had to have a folding knife with a "spring steel, belt, boot AND pocket clip, and a surgical stainless steel blade!" Oh, and make sure it has an "adjustable tension screw" so I can flick it open 1000 times.

I did always wonder where those large bowies with surgical stainless steel blades and pakka wood handles "regularly sold for" $200, complete with their ballistic nylon sheath and presentation quality box.... yours for the low low price of $7 and some change, once you counted the 150 other high quality knives that they were "just throwing in". Heck, just this one knife covers the cost of the whole lot!

Funny, I actually had their live feed from their website / youtube on, while i read this post. I have never bought anything, but it is my guilty pleasure late at night. I just love how they always will get in trouble when Jim finds out!

It's like the days of our lives for the knife world lmao. I too watch it at night, I just can't get enough of that over done accent they have, each ones a little different, but boy it's a pleasure for the ears:rolleyes:

As a kid I use to watch to with a piece of paper and calculator and add up all the "values" of the large knife lots. Then proceed to try and get my father to use his card to order it bc I'd be able to double his money and still have plenty of profit myself selling them...looking back I'm so glad he always said no thou at the time I thought he was ruining my knife entrepreneurship .Lol

Or, on occasion, stab himself with the ultra durable kitana
