this is what you do with the 3 to 5 inch cutoffs, after cutting out blade shapes

They are small one or two-finger knives made from scrap pieces.

There are a ton on the market, check out the Boker Vox Gnome, for example.

Hope that helps!

TOPs also makes a whole series of very small fixed blades also. You should check those out too, if you have never seen a one or two finger fixed blade.

Firstly, there's nothing I like better than people loving all different kinds of knives.

The thing I like only one step less than that are people who make knives.

Also, I love the principle of using everything and leaving no garbage behind.

Great stuff, man. I'd probably never carry one but really great.

Hey it's good to see the scrap isn't going to waste. I agree with you and the other person about that little chisel ground bottle opener, it's pretty damn sweet. It'd be perfect to stick in my back pocket when I go for a motorcycle ride.

Any reason to do these tiny cutoff knives, rather than save up the scraps and make a Damascus from them (obviously using only the ones that would actually go well together)?
I would think that making an expensive and "premium" product like a Damascus would be a great way to take scrap metal and turn it into something very valuable.

I ask as someone who has never forged a damned thing in his life.
