Cutting 550 without a knife

You can cut 1" tubular webbing the same way and in the same time. Good parlor trick. Good way to scare climbers.

On the one hand, that's good to know. On the other hand, it's kinda scary.

Thanks for sharing that: I learned something.

finally, a use for that stupid fishing line I have been lugging around in the BOB for all these years. :p

grasp about 2 feet of paracord in your hands, place over tree branch, and saw back and forth. Takes about 4 - 10 strokes to completely fail. Takes about 2 - 3 strokes if placed over a rock edge.

something to consider for those who insist that paracord can be used for rappelling or lowering ones self down steep embankments.

I know it's not paracord, but you can cut PVC pipe the same way with masons twine. it actually gives you a pretty clean cut. I was taught by a plumber, by the time I went to the tool box to get a hack saw he had the pipe glued into place. Just thought I would share!

Yeah, PVC pipe, the grey pvc electrical conduit too. I was shown by an electrician when the van was about a hundred meters away.

I've also seen the old glass coke bottles cut using nyline twine too but it was a long time ago when I was a little kid and I can't remember if there was anything else added in to that or not.
